The Bosco College of Teacher Education and Salesian College of Higher Education, Dimapur, Nagaland, jointly organized a two-day International Seminar on “Equity and Inclusivity in School Education with Reference to NEP 2020” sponsored by the ICSSR New Delhi. The seminar held on 26th and 27th April, fostered discussions among educators, researchers, policymakers, and teacher trainees on crucial aspects of inclusivity and equity in line with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. There were over 40 research papers presented.
The Institution for Culture and Rural Development (I-CARD) inaugurated “Zoom In Life,” an audio-video recording studio and media education centre at Baghchung, Jorhat. Mr Jayanta Nath, a musician, songster, composer and film director, inaugurated the Zoom-in-Life 5.1 audio studio and the media house on January 31.
The third edition of NE-Vent (Northeast Venture), the flagship programme of The Hub Jorhat, Bosco Institute, was launched on January 24. NE-Vent3 is exclusively for women entrepreneurs. A cohort of 25 was selected for this immersive entrepreneurial journey. The entrepreneurs will receive training in business skills, develop their business and finance plan, pitching training, and have access to co-working space in the Hub Jorhat. At the end of the incubation training and pitching, the most promising entrepreneurs would receive seed funds to set up their enterprises. Mrs. Nidhi Gupta. Executive Director of Dhriiti - the Courage within Delhi, is the Chief Facilitator of the incubation programme.
The second batch of trainees at the Don Bosco Tech Rangajan Center, consisting of 25 youngsters hailing from Manipur, Nagaland and Assam, specializing in the Food and Beverage Service Associate job, completed their training on January 19. Originating from conflict-ridden areas like Kangpokpi and Imphal, many of these participants had previously confronted homelessness and family loss and struggled with substance abuse. With the able leadership of Brother Sunny Joseph, the Director of DB Tech Rangajan, and a dedicated batch of staff, these youth found hope through the free training initiative.
In a harmonious blend of music and a shared commitment to youth development, Don Bosco Alumni units of Dimapur and Kolkata orchestrated the inaugural Bosco Fest at the Don Bosco Higher Secondary School ground on January 7. The event featured a star-studded live musical concert by Bollywood playback singer Abhijeet Bhattacharya, Euphoria Band, and local talents Lenen Jamir and Alobo Naga.
In a powerful demonstration of unity and unwavering dedication to safeguarding the Rights of Children, Dimapur, Nagaland, witnessed an inspiring walkathon organized by AIDA for a Child-Friendly Dimapur on September 23. The event was designed to raise awareness about the fundamental rights of children, foster community solidarity, and champion the cause of a pristine and secure environment for the younger generation.
In a splendid display of cultural preservation and celebration, Salesian College of Higher Education, Dimapur, Nagaland, hosted a captivating folklore competition on September 16. The event with the theme "Preserving Naga Heritage: Tales of Tradition and Culture" witnessed a gathering of staff, students, and distinguished guests to honour and uphold the rich legacy of the Naga community.
In a stride toward fostering career progression and honing essential soft skills, the Institution for Culture and Rural Development (I-CARD) in Jorhat, Assam, embarked on its annual Training Program for Educated Unemployed Youth. The inauguration took place on September 12 with distinguished guests Fr. K.A Thomas, Director of I-CARD, Dr. Salim Ahmed, Professor of J.B. College, Jorhat, and Mr Uma Pathari (Executive Member) and Mr. Tralukya Pame:gam, the representatives from the Mising Autonomous Council, Government of Assam.
In the idyllic setting of Bosco Institute, Lifeplus, Jorhat, the quarterly Youth Involve (YI) Review Meeting was held on September 3 and 4. The question, "Should young dreams be allowed to die?" serves as the inspiration and cornerstone of the YI initiative, offering a ray of hope and unwavering support to the youth who dare to dream.
