Following the heartfelt “A Legacy of Love,” the South Asia Region releases “A Legacy of Grace,” the newest episode in the Salesian Mission 150 Years series. Now streaming on YouTube, the sequel journeys deeper into the struggles and faith of Salesian Family Missionaries in Sudan and South Sudan, revealing how divine grace sustains them amid war, famine, and loss. Produced by BOSCOM, Missionary Animation, and Salesian Family South Asia under the SPCSA, the video is a powerful testimony of resilience, trust, and God’s loving presence in suffering.
A grassroots movement to foster women’s skills, sustainability, and self-reliance is taking root in Trivandrum. Fifty women have embarked on a transformative journey toward economic independence and sustainable nutrition through “Nanma,” a mushroom cultivation training programme launched by Don Bosco Veedu and the Salesian Cooperators, with support from Ashirvadam, Bangalore.
On October 25, 2024, a one-day orientation on the Young at Risk (YaR) and Migrant Ministry took place at the Provincial House in Dimapur, Nagaland, aimed at revitalizing these critical ministries. Resource persons Father Francis Bosco and Father Joe Prabhu from the Don Bosco National Forum for Young at Risk, Delhi, led the program, engaging 52 participants, including Rectors and In-charges from the Dimapur Province.
Youth Involve (YI), an initiative of Bosco Institute Jorhat, celebrated its 10th anniversary alongside the bicentennial of Don Bosco's dream from September 17–19 at Siloam, Umiam. Twenty-six young social entrepreneurs, leading as many social projects and initiatives from Assam, Meghalaya, Manipur, Mizoram, and Nagaland, and their Salesian and lay mentors and coaches came together for three days of sharing experiences and insights, and learning from successes, failures, distractions and challenges through presentations, exhibitions, conversations, reflections, and group activities. They were welcomed by Fr. George Palamattam SDB, the founder of Siloam.
The Salesian Social Forum (SSF), a group of like-minded Salesians, held a two-day National Convention at Don Bosco Provincial House, Hyderabad, on August 10-11. The event, titled "Contextualizing the Dream of Don Bosco: A South Asian Workshop by Salesians in India Today," brought together about 40 Salesians from various Indian provinces to explore ways to renew Don Bosco's vision for the poor.
The 12th Annual National Convention of all Don Bosco Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) centres of India was held from February 3 to 5, 2023, at Don Bosco Skill Mission, Bangalore (Karnataka), with the theme, 'Let’s Reconnect' to revisit the origins of the network and closely look at the skilling memory lane with the idea of looking ahead to impact the lives of the needy youth in large numbers.
