The ultimate goal of Salesian education is to form “upright citizens and good Christians.” This dual mission emphasizes both social and spiritual growth: socially, young people are guided to become responsible members of society who work for the common good; spiritually, they are helped to develop a mature faith and a personal relationship with God.
Characteristics of the Educational Environment: The "Oratory" Model: Every Salesian educational work must function as a home that welcomes, a parish that evangelizes, a school that prepares for life, and a playground where friends meet. Educative Pastoral Community (EPC): Education is a team effort involving Salesians, lay collaborators, parents, and the youth themselves in a shared project.
A new chapter in the life of Divyadaan, the Salesian Institute of Philosophy in Nashik, unfolded on June 13, 2026. The institute held its inaugural function, themed “Come, Holy Spirit, Breathe Wisdom Divine.” The day commenced with the Eucharistic Celebration presided over by Fr Ashley Miranda, Provincial of the Salesian Province of Mumbai. Fr Brian Bandya, Provincial of the Capuchin Bonaventure Province, was among the other concelebrants. In his homily, Fr Miranda reflected on wisdom as a virtue that shapes both the heart and the mind.
DON BOSCO SENIOR SECONDARY SCHOOL, Doomdooma, Upper Assam, marked World Environment Day 2026 with a large-scale environmental awareness campaign. The event included a tree plantation drive that united 3,008 students, 94 teachers, and members of the Past Pupils Association of Doomdooma. Together, they promoted ecological responsibility.
Two outstanding students from the Higher Secondary Section of Don Bosco College, Tura, were felicitated by the Government of Meghalaya for their exceptional performance in the Higher Secondary School Leaving Certificate (HSSLC) Examinations conducted by the Meghalaya Board of School Education (MBOSE).
A doctoral study conducted at Mahatma Gandhi University (MGU), Meghalaya, has revealed that private tuition has become an integral part of secondary education in Manipur, driven largely by gaps in classroom instruction, academic pressures, and prolonged disruptions in the state's schooling system. The university is led by Dr Rajan Chopra, Chancellor, and Dr Sagar Onkarrao Manjare, Vice-Chancellor.

In the rich yet underexplored biodiversity of Northeast India, a new species of fossorial reed snake has been discovered in the Garo Hills of Meghalaya. The species, named Calamaria garoensis (Garo Hills Reed Snake), has been formally described in the internationally reputed peer-reviewed journal Taprobanica.
The AIDBES organised a two-day training programme at Don Bosco, Manikandam, Trichy, for the Salesians, teachers, and members of the Salesian Family of Trichy Province on April 24 and 25. Fr. More than 677 women from 45 villages gathered at DRISTI – Don Bosco, Kapadvanj, to celebrate International Women’s Day and to mark the successful conclusion of the 100-Day Child Marriage Free India Campaign.
