In a district where migration has become a compulsion rather than a choice, the Don Bosco for Migrants (DB4M) initiative has intensified its engagement with families impacted by seasonal and long-term labour movement. The Diocese of Rayagada hosted a one-day consultation, “Pilgrims of Hope: Journeying with Odisha Informal and Migrant Workers,” at Don Bosco Muniguda, bringing together parish leaders, catechists, and council representatives to assess and respond to the needs of affected communities.
The Salesians of Don Bosco (SDB) have completed a region-wide Community Audit as part of their flagship initiative, Mission Poverty Eradication (MPE). On 15 November 2025, designated by the Salesian Provincial Conference of South Asia (SPCSA) as a day of reflection, more than 427 communities across India, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, and Nepal paused to evaluate their service to the poorest and most vulnerable youth.

With over 59,000 interventions documented in its first year, the project is rapidly evolving into a powerful network of hope, empowerment, and systemic change.
Given International Labour Day, May 01, Father Francis Bosco, Director of Don Bosco for Migrants (DB4M), brings attention to the invaluable contributions of unorganized workers in India and calls for urgent action to protect their dignity and rights. Bosco emphasizes that India's economy relies heavily on the hard work of migrant and informal workers, who often remain invisible despite their critical role in shaping the nation's progress.
Don Bosco Skill Development proudly inaugurated a Residential Summer Camp to empower tribal and unemployed youth through intensive communication and computer skills training. The 45-day program, hosted at Don Bosco Parvathipuram, Andhra Pradesh, welcomed 106 students to equip them with essential tools for a brighter and more confident future.
Aimed at discussing the challenges and opportunities for rural development in Northeast India, the Department of Economics at Don Bosco College Itanagar organized a two-day national seminar on "Challenges and Opportunities for Socio-Economic Development in Rural Areas of Northeast India." The seminar, which took place on February 7-8, was supported by ICSSR-NERC and Federal Bank.
The three-day National Conference on ‘Innovations in Interventions for the Indigenous Population’ was inaugurated at Don Bosco College, Sultan Bathery, on Thursday, January 9. It marks the beginning of fostering dialogue, research, and solutions for the empowerment of Indigenous communities.
Navajeevan Bala Bhavan, Vijayawada, a Salesian community of the Province of St. Joseph, Hyderabad, received a certificate of recognition from the Andhra Pradesh State AIDS Control Society (APSACS) on December 1, World AIDS Day. This accolade acknowledges the NGO's exemplary nutrition support programs for children infected and affected by HIV/AIDS.
Once the dust settles, reality kicks in! The aftermath of the July landslides in Wayanad, Kerala, adds untold miseries to the script. Seeing their plight, BREADS Bangalore, in collaboration with Don Bosco College Sulthan Bathery, provided basic household articles and essential commodities to over 70 survivors of the landslides that hit Mundakkai and Chooralmala on November 5 as part of # We4You.
Youth Involve (YI), an initiative of Bosco Institute Jorhat, celebrated its 10th anniversary alongside the bicentennial of Don Bosco's dream from September 17–19 at Siloam, Umiam. Twenty-six young social entrepreneurs, leading as many social projects and initiatives from Assam, Meghalaya, Manipur, Mizoram, and Nagaland, and their Salesian and lay mentors and coaches came together for three days of sharing experiences and insights, and learning from successes, failures, distractions and challenges through presentations, exhibitions, conversations, reflections, and group activities. They were welcomed by Fr. George Palamattam SDB, the founder of Siloam.
On September 6, Don Bosco Kalvi Solai launched the Butterfly Express: Library for Village Schools campaign to create well-resourced libraries in rural areas. The launch had prominent figures, including N. Ram of The Hindu, Dr. Jayakumar Reddy, and Mr. Joshua Madhan, supporting the cause. The initiative, symbolizing the transformative impact of reading, also featured the launch of Fr. John Alexander's book by Archbishop George Antonysamy.
