The Institution for Culture and Rural Development (I-CARD) inaugurated “Zoom In Life,” an audio-video recording studio and media education centre at Baghchung, Jorhat. Mr Jayanta Nath, a musician, songster, composer and film director, inaugurated the Zoom-in-Life 5.1 audio studio and the media house on January 31.

Zoom-in-Life is a media centre that will focus on the life of the people, especially of Upper Assam. Being situated on the Life Plus campus, the name Zoom-in-Life, in both meaning and purpose, will capture and document the inner pulse of the people they will be within their projects.

Father Nazarius Lakra, the Vice Provincial of the Salesian Province of Dimapur, lit the lamp and wished for a bright future for the institution. The welcome speech delivered by Father K.A. Thomas, Director of I-CARD, was visibly emotional when he mentioned that I-CARD grew from very humble beginnings to now with a museum, studio, library and live cultural performances, operating under the aegis of Assam Tourism Development Corporation. Dr Shamim Ahmed, Professor of J.B. College, Jorhat, who had known I-CARD for more than 20 years, was all praise for the organization in his address to the gathering. The event was made more attractive by three programmes presented by the students of Jeevan Entrepreneurship Training Institute and other staff of I-CARD.

Father Santosh Mundu delivered the vote of thanks. In the programme that saw a long line of distinguished educators, musicians, literary figures, artists, poets and news reporters from the cultural capital of Assam, everyone wished a glorious future for Zoom-In-Life and expressed the hope that the centre will usher in a new era for the development of Jorhat in particular, and Assam in general.
