During the 155th Salesian Missionary Expedition on September 29, 2024, the East Asia-Oceania (EAO) Region sent and received missionaries. Among those sent is Fr. Joseph Vanga, one of two missionaries heading to the PGS Vice-Province, given the new Salesian presence in Vanuatu in 2025.

With unemployment among the educated youth on a steady rise, the Apprenticeship Mela (Job Fair) conducted by Don Bosco Technical Institute, Park Circus, on February 13, 2023, at the request of the Directorate of Industrial Training, Government of West Bengal, was an opportunity for almost 300 participants.

Don Bosco Youth Animation Department organised a three-day session for the Salesian vocation promoters at Don Bosco Renewal Centre (DBRC), Bangalore. Fostering a culture of Vocation under the dimension of Vocational Guidance by the Don Bosco Youth Animation, the meeting was held from December 14-16, 2022. Fourteen Salesian vocation promoters from 11 Indian Salesian Provinces and the Vice-Province of Sri Lanka participated.

Salesian Brother Sushanto Biswas, who never tired of sharing the good news with people of all religions, died on February 25, 2022, at 3.40 pm at Rabindranath Tagore International Institute of Cardiac Sciences, Kolkata, due to cardiac arrest. He was 76.

1200 Young Job Seekers Attend Mega Job Fair

A job fair organized by the Don Bosco Job Placement Network India of the Salesians of Don Bosco in collaboration with Nirmala College for Women on December 18, 2021, was attended by 1200 young people. The young had the opportunity to get selected to 36 companies at the fair in Coimbatore. The job fair was inaugurated by the Assistant Commissioner of Police, Coimbatore, Mr Vincent, with Lijo Chungath, Managing Director of Pavizham Jewellers.

If Archbishop Fulton J. Sheen was the voice of Catholics in America on television and radio, Bishop Arulselvam Rayappan is the voice of Catholics in Tamil Nadu on YouTube. Speaking to the Salesians working in the Diocese, the newly Ordained Bishop of Salem invited them to be harbingers of New Media. He asked them to encourage young people to use media for evangelization and catechesis. The Bishop met the Salesians working in the Diocese on August 18, 2021.

Youth Centre Turns into Corona Care Centre, Run by Salesian Family

Don Bosco Youth Centre, the educational-recreational hub in Shillong, has turned into a Corona Care Centre for those infected by Covid-19. The Centre became functional on May 6, 2021, under the leadership of its director Father Michael Makri, and assisted by five lay collaborators and the members of the Salesian Family, the Salesian Sisters (FMA) and the MSMHC Sisters. The Centre provides essential services to the post-Covid-19 patients who have completed the Covid-19 treatment from different hospitals.

The FMA Province of Mary Help of Christians, Kolkata, marked a new beginning on June 24, 2021, with its seventh Provincial, Sr. Leelamma Palliparambil, taking charge. The installation ceremony took place in the provincial house chapel, Dum Dum, amid the Provincial Council members. Kolkata Salesian provincial Father Joseph Pauria presided over the solemn Holy Eucharist with the parish priest of St. Patrick`s Church, Dum Dum, and other Salesians.

120 Young Men Take Vows to be Salesians in South Asia

Darjeeling: Despite the pandemic disrupting regular schedules, the nine novitiates of the South Asia Region have more novices, making their first profession this year. Starting from traditional May 24, the date for the first professions, the 120 young men will make their first profession on different dates of May 24 and 31, June 30, August 15 and September 8.
