The 47th Annual Provincial Congress of the Salesian Cooperators of the Shillong Province was celebrated on 25 and 26 October at Nongstoiñ, marking a historic moment that coincided with the 150th anniversary of the founding of the Association by St. John Bosco.
In a bold step toward digital evangelization, the Salesians of Don Bosco in the INB Province gathered for a transformative Media Seminar focused on equipping religious communicators to become “digital disciples.” Led by Fr Arockia Selvakumar SDB, the seminar emphasized the urgent need to move beyond passive media consumption and embrace content creation as a mission tool.
Don Bosco Parish, Oodlabari, held its Annual Retreat from 21st to 23rd November at Pathibari tea garden, drawing over 3,000 faithful from its 14 sub-centres. Led by Fr. Lijo VC and his team, the retreat offered a deeply moving experience of prayer, healing, and renewal.
Deepagam, the Catechetical Centre of the Salesian Province of Chennai, organized the “Salesian Parish Lay Formators’ Day” at Don Bosco Youth Animation Center, Ennore, on Sunday, September 14. The event brought together 181 lay coordinators from 18 parish sectors for a day of formation, reflection, and planning aimed at strengthening parish life and fostering active collaboration in the spirit of the Second Vatican Council.
The Province of Mary Help of Christians, Guwahati, honoured the life and legacy of the late Fr (Dr) Francis Hembrom, SDB, with the release of his book The Catechetical Ministry in Northeast India (1890–1962). The event, organized by the Social Communication Commission of the Province, was held at the Don Bosco Provincial House and brought together Salesians, clergy, religious, and friends to celebrate his contributions to catechetical ministry.
The historic Marian shrine of Bandel Church, which has stood sentinel on the banks of the Hooghly River since 1599, became the site of a unique spiritual and musical homecoming on Saturday. Baul Samrat Sanajit Mandal, a pioneering figure in Bengali Gospel folk music, returned to his roots to reimagine two iconic devotional tracks—Kaatar Mukut(Crown of Thorns) and Dhike Dhike Shona Jai (Heard All Over)—in a special music video shoot organized by the Song of Gospel YouTube channel.
On 16 June, Fr. Rafael Bejarano, General Councillor for Youth Pastoral Ministry, convened his first online meeting with the Youth Delegate of Don Bosco Animation South Asia and the core team. The virtual gathering brought together coordinators of the Four Dimensions of Salesian Youth Ministry: Fr. John Parankimalil (Educational and Cultural), Fr. Francisco Pereira (Education to Faith), Fr. Gabriel Karunaraj (Vocational), and Fr. Patrick Lepcha (Social Experience).
The Sacred Heart Shrine at Mawlai witnessed a profound outpouring of faith and devotion as nearly 10,000 pilgrims converged for the Annual Pilgrimage in Honour of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. Hosted by Sacred Heart Theological College, the much-anticipated event drew faithful not only from the Archdiocese of Shillong but also from neighbouring dioceses of Nongstoin and Jowai.
Don Bosco Theological Centre (DBTC) marked a historic day on June 5, with the twin celebrations of the Inauguration of the Academic Year 2025–2026 and the First Convocation of the Institute.
Don Bosco Higher Secondary School, Gedilam, in collaboration with Deepagam, organized a two-day pilgrimage for altar servers from May 13 to 14. A total of thirty-three altar servers from three parishes, Tagore Nagar (Puducherry), Maranodai, and Thennangudi, participated. Salesian priests and catechists guided them.
A vibrant confluence of culture, catechesis, and youth empowerment marked the recently concluded ten-day “Leadership Training Camp and Youth Catechesis through Folk Art” held from May 21 to May 31, 2025, at Sacred Heart College (SHC), Tirupattur. Jointly organized by the Salesian Province of Chennai (INM), the Youth Ministry Delegation, Deepagam (Don Bosco Catechetical Centre), and SHC, the camp brought together 65 youth and children from seven rural parishes in Vellore and Tirupattur regions, including participants from Chennai and FSAG sisters of Shalom Province, Tindivanam.
To equip priests and religious with the latest AI tools for creative and effective evangelization, Don Bosco Media Network, in collaboration with the Media Centres of both the SDB and FMA Salesian Provinces of Shillong, organized an online workshop on “AI Tools for Enhancing Our Ministry” on May 31.
In a moment of profound grace and thanksgiving, His Excellency, the Most Rev. Stephen Rotluanga, Bishop of Aizawlthe, consecrated the newly constructed parish church in Lawngtlai. Fr. John Zosiama, SDB, Provincial of Shillong, Fr. Joseph Lalbiakthanga, Vicar General of the Diocese of Aizawl, members of the Provincial Council, Sr. Maria Goretti Sangma, MSMHC, Provincial of Shillong and a host of priests and religious from the Dioceses of Aizawl, Shillong, Silchar, and Tripura attended the sacred ceremony.
The never like before Youth Pasch, a spiritually enriching event jointly organized by the Salesian Provinces of Chennai and Trichy, transformed Ennore's Don Bosco Youth Animation Centre into a vibrant hub of faith and reflection from April 10th to April 12th, 2025. With 55 enthusiastic young participants (40 boys and 15 girls), the program immersed them into the profound spiritual journey of the Paschal Triduum. Every day featured live historical landscapes of St.Thomas, the Apostle, to immerse them into the spirit of missionary discipleship.
The confreres of the Salesian Province of Shillong gathered at the Provincial House on March 11 to give thanks to God for Fr. Hubert Thyrniang's missionary vocation to Benin, North West Africa(AON). To mark this significant occasion, the confreres united in the celebration of the Holy Eucharist, presided over by Fr. Hubert.
