To provide quality education to the students of the government schools, the Nepal Don Bosco Society (NDBS) organized a Teacher Training Programme at Manthali, a prominent central city, about 170 Km away from Kathmandu from February 24, 2022. The training lasted for three days for 31 teachers from ten schools.

The Salesian Province of Tiruchy (INT) released a new book on Mamma Margaret in the Tamil language authored by Father Dr John Dharmanathan SDB on February 18, 2022. The translated work, based on the highly researched work of Don Teresio Bosco, `Vita di Mamma Margherita La Mamma di Don Bosco`, published in 2005, is set in the background of the coming Synod.

The Salesian Province of St. Thomas the Apostle, Chennai (INM) began the Provincial Chapter on February 22, at Don Bosco Provincial House, Kilpauk, Chennai, with 116 Chapter members. Father Jose Kochamkunnel, Provincial, declared the Provincial Chapter open.

The Salesian Province of Jesus the Good Shepherd, New Delhi, celebrated the Silver Jubilee of its Foundation (1997-2022) on February 19, 2022. A thanksgiving Holy Eucharist presided over by His Excellency, Leopoldo Girelli, the Apostolic Nuncio to India, celebrated the story of dreams, struggles and indomitable spirit of the Province in the past twenty-five years.

Lawrence Pius, Bishop of Dharmapuri, at the release of the book, Wise and Strong, written by Father John Alexander SDB. Schneider Electric Foundation - the social commitment arm of Schneider Electric and Don Bosco Institute, Nepal, committed to the poor young people in the Kathmandu valley, has launched a Centre of Excellence at Lalitpur, Nepal. Honourable Minister of Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation Nepal, Pampha Bhusal, inaugurated the centre with French Ambassador-designate Gilles Bourbao present. With State-of-the-art equipment and facilities, the centre will provide vocational training and skill development to around 1000 youth over the next five years in home and building installation, basic automation, home automation, safe and secure building operations, industrial installations controls and drives.

The Social Work students of Don Bosco College, Kottiyam, Kerala, with collaboration from the local village, Rosemala, on the Kerala-Tamil Nadu border, rebuilt a dilapidated and abandoned library and inaugurated the facelifted library on August 15, 2021.

Fishermen Community Development Program (FCDP) of the Salesian Province of Bangalore has marked the beginning of yet another phase of its creative community involvement with the inauguration and the first phase of its distribution of electric autos to women on August 4, 2021, in Kollam, Kerala. FCDP is a voluntary organization founded in 1979, under the guidance and leadership of the Salesians of Don Bosco, Bangalore Province, for the integral development of all fisherfolk living in the coastal area of Kollam (Quilon).

As the Church in India celebrated the National Youth Sunday on August 8, new members were inducted into the youth group of Don Bosco Church Lingarajapuram, Bangalore. Forty-three youngsters took membership in the youth group of the parish.

The youth animators, leaders and Salesians of the state of Karnataka gathered for two days in the Salesian Provincial House, Bangalore, celebrating PALS-2021 (Programme for Animators, Leaders and Salesians) even amid the unrelenting pandemic. The two-day programme, slated for July 31 and August 1, had 52 youth leaders and 18 animators and Salesians (SDBs and FMAs) from 20 centres of Bosco Youth. The regional youth director, Father William D`souza SDB, facilitated the programme.

Father Vincent Durairaj, the former Provincial of Salesian Province of Chennai (INM), succumbed to Covid-19 related ailments at Kaveri Hospital, Chennai, on Saturday evening. He was 84 years old.

The Tamil Nadu Cricket Association (TNCA) has selected three students who are members of a sports training programme by Don Bosco Anbu Illam, the Social Service Society of the Salesian Province of Chennai, and the HCL Foundation, for special training. TNCA has chosen Jeni Plautila for U19 bowling and all-rounder, Madhumitha for U23 batting/all-rounder, both from Government Girls Higher Secondary School, Avadi, Chennai and Karthika for U19 bowling/all-rounder from Police Boys & Girls Club, Kannagi Nagar.

In a gesture of compassion, the staff and the Salesian community of Sacred Heart College, Tirupattur donated Rupees 10 Lakhs towards the welfare and education of four girls who lost their parents to COVID-19 pandemic.
