The Salesians of Don Bosco integrate sports to promote social inclusion, teach values, and inspire young people to pursue holiness in every aspect of their lives. Ultimately, the Salesians aim to cultivate a supportive community where young individuals feel loved, valued, and encouraged to deepen their faith through sports and games.

Cheers, whistles and the thud of leather on turf filled the air as Karimadam and MSK colonies staged a one-day football tournament that turned two neighbouring housing blocks into a miniature stadium.

In a bold move to harness the power of sports for youth development, Don Bosco institutions, in partnership with Jugend Eine Welt (JEW), BREADS Bangalore, and the Oommen Chandy Foundation, officially launched the ‘Sports for Change’ initiative in Kerala. The inaugural ceremony occurred at Don Bosco Schools, Puthuppally, Kottayam, and was presided over by the Honourable Governor of Maharashtra, Shri C. P. Radhakrishnan.

Don Bosco College commenced its College Week 2025 with a spirited inaugural ceremony on February 3, featuring a blend of academic celebration, cultural performances, and motivational discourses. The event, graced by Shri Atul Bora, Honourable Cabinet Minister of Assam, witnessed a remarkable display of student discipline and institutional pride. Minister Bora received the Guard of Honour, hoisted the college flag, and delivered an inspiring address.

Eleven players out of a twelve-member team of the West Bengal State Women's Rugby Team, Jungle Crows, hail from the tea garden villages in the Jalpaiguri district of West Bengal under Don Bosco Shrine parish, Siliguri, established in 1993. The Women's Rugby team is at the 38th National Games at Dehradun from January 29-31.

Setting a new benchmark, the 2nd Don Bosco Football Tournament for Under-19 Boys, organized by St. Xavier's Higher Secondary Pathaliaghat, concluded on a high note on 8th November. The two-week-long event gathered young football enthusiasts from across Tripura, drawing 57 teams to compete in the prestigious knockout tournament at the Don Bosco Mini Stadium in Pathaliaghat. The tournament underscored the institution's commitment to youth empowerment and sportsmanship. The game kicked off on 20th October by Chief Guest Father K.K. Joseph, SDB.

Don Bosco Higher Secondary School (DBHSS) Dimapur came alive from 24th to 26th October, as students from across Nagaland gathered for the All Don Bosco Schools Nagaland Meet 2024. The three-day event, centered around the theme of Students for Change, showcased a dynamic blend of athletic prowess, cultural heritage, and academic excellence.

Chess enthusiasts from all walks of life, across the state, are eagerly awaiting the first Tamil Nadu State Level Open Chess Tournament, organized by the Sacred Heart College Alumni Association, in view of the college's Platinum Jubilee Celebrations. Set to take place on September 15, the event promises an intense day of rapid-fire strategy and skill at the historic Sacred Heart College (Autonomous) in Tirupattur.

Excitement peaked as the Youth of Mary Help of Christians, Naigaon, Mumbai, hosted its Annual Football Extravaganza. Held at Don Bosco High School and Junior College Turf on June 30, the event was a spectacle of athleticism, strategy, and community spirit. The football team Vmaads outplayed Savage Stallions to clinch a 2-1 victory. Sixteen teams representing various neighbourhoods, schools, and local clubs came together to compete for the coveted championship title.

Following Don Bosco words, “Let the boys have full liberty to jump, run and make as much noise as they please. Gymnastics, music, theatrical and outings are most efficacious means of obtaining discipline and benefitting spiritual and bodily health,” the Don Bosco Shrine, Bandlaguda Jagir, Hyderabad, organized a day of sports and games for the youth of the Archdiocese of Hyderabad on February 10th. The introductory and concluding gathering focussed on imparting Don Bosco’s participatory and collaborative lifestyle in the Church and society.

The 7th Inter School Don Bosco Football Tournament 2023 held at Bharoul Don Bosco School from October 1 to 13 was an exhilarating competition honing the playing skills of four hundred young football players. The tournament originated in 2015 and is an annual feature of the Don Bosco Centre and an event of the region and season. The event aims to bring unity and collaboration among the schools of the region.

“I want to participate in Olympic Games and win the gold medal for the country,” says a 10-year-old karate kid, D Vaibavi. A student of Fatima Matriculation School, Kodambakkam, Vaibavi, is thrilled as she will represent at the 18th Okinawa Goju Ryu Karate Open International Championship 2022 at Ipoh City, Malaysia. The event will take place from May 27 to 29, 2022.

Don Bosco Football Academy (FA) marked its entry into professional football, bagging the Runner-Up trophy in the Kerala Women`s League (KWL) 2021- 2022, organized by the Kerala Football Association (KFA). Kerala Women`s League is a top-rated professional Women`s Football Leagues in India. Six professional clubs across Kerala participated in the third season of the league.
