Their Planning and Development Offices (PDOs) often coordinate these efforts, ensuring that interventions are sustainable and inclusive. In South Asia, where floods, cyclones, and earthquakes are recurring challenges, the Salesians’ commitment to disaster readiness reflects their core values: protecting life, fostering hope, and empowering communities to rise stronger after adversity. In this way, their emergency and disaster initiatives become both humanitarian and educational—teaching resilience while living out Don Bosco’s vision of service to the most vulnerable.
In a gesture of solidarity with the flood-affected people of Assam, St. Xavier’s Higher Secondary School, Harmutty, a Don Bosco institution, came forward to extend financial assistance of rupees two lakhs to flood victims in Sivasagar district. A delegation from the school travelled to Sivasagar to assess the situation of the flood-affected people and extend support to families struggling with the aftermath of the devastating floods. The relief fund was raised through the generous contributions of the teachers, students, parents and past pupils of St. Xavier’s Higher Secondary School, Harmutty.
Don Bosco Tech Society, Delhi, led a relief operation that reached 450 families across seven Gaon Panchayats in the Titabor Revenue Circle, with 25 youth volunteers helping pack and distribute essential relief materials.

As Kerala state celebrated its state festival of harvest, prosperity, harmony and unity, Onam, Don Bosco College, Sulthan Bathery, and the Development Office of the Salesian Bangalore Province BREADS Bangalore hosted a get-together on September 11 for the people affected by the recent devastating landslides in Wayanad. Around 200 landslide survivors participated in the ‘Njangalum Ningalodopam’ (We are With You as You Move Forward) Onam celebrations.
