Don Bosco Tech Society and Mahindra Holidays & Resorts India Ltd. (MHRIL) have launched Project Udaan, a placement-linked skill development initiative to equip 500 young women from remote and underserved communities with industry-ready skills and create pathways to careers in the hospitality sector.

The nine-month initiative, part of MHRIL’s corporate social responsibility efforts, will operate across Sikkim, Kerala, Karnataka and Puducherry. It will support women aged 18 to 30 by providing opportunities for financial independence, employability and long-term career growth.

Participants will undergo industry-aligned training for Guest Service Associate – Food and Beverage and Housekeeping roles. The courses are aligned with the standards of the Tourism and Hospitality Skill Council (THSC), the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC), and the National Skills Qualifications Framework (NSQF) at Level 4.

Each participant will receive 420 hours of training covering technical skills, life skills, digital literacy and financial literacy. The programme will also provide counselling, certification and placement assistance to help participants transition confidently into the hospitality workforce.

Speaking on the partnership, Ghanashyam Hegdekatte, Chief Human Resources Officer, Mahindra Holidays & Resorts India Ltd., said the initiative reflected the company’s commitment to creating inclusive and sustainable opportunities in the hospitality sector. He said Project Udaan would help young women from underserved communities acquire industry-relevant skills and access meaningful work.

Fr George Mathew, SDB, Executive Director, Don Bosco Tech Society, said the initiative went beyond providing skill certification by helping young women enter formal employment with confidence and dignity. He emphasised that equipping women with market-ready skills and work opportunities could strengthen their families and communities.

Training will be conducted through Don Bosco and Salesian institutions, providing participants with a safe and supportive learning environment. Don Bosco Tech Society, which has nearly two decades of experience in employment-linked skill development, has trained close to five lakh young people across India, particularly from underserved communities, helping them acquire industry-relevant skills and access dignified livelihood opportunities.
