News reported by: MIS DB TECH
The second cohort of the Data Centre Academy – Data Centre Operations Management Course launched at the Young India Skills University (YISU) – International Institute of Information Technology (IIIT) Hyderabad, with 41 young people enrolled in an intensive programme to prepare them for careers in India’s rapidly expanding data centre industry.
The programme is organised by United Way of Hyderabad, sponsored by Microsoft and implemented by Don Bosco Tech Society, which delivers industry-oriented training and equips participants with the technical and practical skills required by the sector.
The second cohort builds on the encouraging results of the first batch, in which 17 learners completed the programme and 10 secured internship opportunities with Microsoft. The launch event included interactions with first-cohort alumni, industry insights, and an orientation to career pathways in the data centre sector.
The 600-hour intensive programme combines classroom instruction, practical exposure and industry-led training. Participants receive training in Data Centre Fundamentals, Infrastructure Setup and Management, Security and Safety Management, Compliance and Facilities Management, and Industry Standards and Best Practices.
Through its implementation role, Don Bosco Tech Society brings its experience in skill development and youth employability to the initiative, linking technical training with real-world industry requirements. The programme seeks not merely to impart knowledge but to create pathways towards sustainable employment in an emerging technology sector.
Senior operations leaders from Microsoft met the new trainees during the launch and shared insights into industry expectations, workplace skills and emerging opportunities. Alumni of the first cohort also shared their learning and career experiences, offering a practical perspective on the opportunities ahead.
“Building on the success of the first cohort, we are pleased to welcome 41 students to the Data Centre Academy, equipping them with industry-relevant skills for emerging careers in the data centre sector,” said Rajesha, Regional Manager, Don Bosco Tech.
As India’s digital economy continues to grow, the demand for skilled professionals to operate and manage data centre infrastructure is also increasing. Through the Data Centre Academy, Don Bosco Tech Society, in partnership with United Way of Hyderabad and Microsoft, is contributing to a future-ready workforce by combining technical training, practical experience and direct industry exposure.
The launch of the second cohort marks another step in Don Bosco Tech Society’s efforts to equip young people with market-relevant skills and connect them with sustainable career opportunities in India’s growing technology ecosystem.
