The Mission Poverty Eradication (MPE) Strategy Workshop II commenced at the Provincial House, Guwahati, bringing together Project Directors from various Salesian provinces across South Asia. The two-day workshop aims to evolve concrete strategies to intensify the congregation’s commitment to serving the poorest communities in the region.
The Salesian Province of Guwahati joyfully celebrated the Jubilee of Confreres and Province Community Day 2025 on Saturday, October 18, at the Provincial House, Panbazar, bringing together Salesians from across the province in thanksgiving for the gift of consecrated life. The celebration honoured confreres marking their Golden and Silver Jubilees of religious commitment, recognizing decades of dedicated service to the Church and society. The jubilarians have made remarkable contributions to education, pastoral ministry, and social development across North East India, devoting their lives to nurturing the young and fostering holistic education in the spirit of Don Bosco.
In a powerful gathering of faith and fraternity, the Province of Guwahati convened its Parish Priests’ Animation and Meeting at Mario Hall, Panbazar, under the theme “Shepherds of Hope: Renewing Pastoral Zeal in the Spirit of Don Bosco.” The event served as a clarion call for spiritual renewal and pastoral clarity, urging priests to become beacons of hope in a rapidly changing world.
The Province of Guwahati convened a significant meeting on Mission Poverty Eradication on October 11 at Mario Hall, Provincial House, Panbazar. Centred on the theme “Together for a Dignified Tomorrow,” the gathering brought together Salesians and their collaborators to reflect, discuss, and devise concrete strategies to combat poverty in mission areas.
On the third day of the Inter-Provincial Quinquennium at Siloam, Umiam, Archbishop Victor Lyngdoh of Shillong presided over the Holy Mass and delivered a stirring homily steeped in Salesian spirituality. Addressing young Salesian priests and brothers from the Provinces of Guwahati and Shillong, the Archbishop urged them to ground their ministry in faith, humility, and compassion.
The Salesian Provinces of Guwahati (ING) and Shillong (INS) inaugurated the Inter-Provincial Junior Priests’ Animation 2025, also known as the Quinquennium, at Siloam, Umiam, Ri-Bhoi District, on September 22. The five-day programme, which runs until September 26, is guided by the theme “A Concentrated Consecrated Life” and is being animated by Rev. Fr. Albert Johnson SDB, former Provincial of Trichy (INT).
A one-day research conclave on “Towards Achieving SDG 7 (Affordable and Clean Energy)” was jointly organized by Assam Don Bosco University (ADBU) and Assam Engineering College (AEC) on Friday, producing decisive outcomes for advancing renewable energy initiatives in the Northeast.
The Salesian Youth Movement (SYM) Leaders and Animators Formation programme for the three North-East provinces was inaugurated on September 5 and will run till September 8, at the Don Bosco Institute for Development and Leadership (DBIDL), Dimapur, with a strong call for young participants to embrace their mission of faith and leadership.

The Province of Mary Help of Christians, Guwahati, honoured the life and legacy of the late Fr (Dr) Francis Hembrom, SDB, with the release of his book The Catechetical Ministry in Northeast India (1890–1962). The event, organized by the Social Communication Commission of the Province, was held at the Don Bosco Provincial House and brought together Salesians, clergy, religious, and friends to celebrate his contributions to catechetical ministry.
Under the theme “Walking with the Young: Lessons from the Playground to the Chapel,” the Province hosted a two-day animation and meeting for Salesian practical trainees at the Provincial House, Guwahati, from August 9 to 10. The gathering aimed to deepen the trainees’ pastoral skills, spiritual discipline, and commitment to youth ministry.
The official release of the Bodo language edition of the pictorial book on St Artemide Zatti, a celebrated Salesian saint of the sick and poor, was launched at the Salesian Provincial House, Odxel, Goa, during the ongoing Annual South Asia Formation Commission (SAFC) Meeting.
