The Salesian Generalate in Rome has appointed Br (Dr) Jose Puthenpurackel of the Kolkata Province as the Assistant Director of Don Bosco Tech (DB Tech) South Asia, with effect from 24 May 2026.
The Salesian Youth Movement Leadership (SYMLEAD) South Asia convened a two-day meeting of province representatives on March 14 and 15 at the Don Bosco Provincial House, Matunga, Mumbai, bringing together nine youth leaders from across South Asia. The formative gathering, organised by the Don Bosco Youth Animation South Asia office under the leadership of Fr. Patrick Lepcha, focused on strengthening collaboration, evaluating youth ministry initiatives, and equipping participants with practical leadership tools.
A student team of Salesian College (Autonomous), Siliguri, has launched LuvlyU — Love, Understand and Value Yourself as You Are — a digital platform designed to help young people reconnect with their inner spark and confidently share their authentic selves. The initiative was created by M.Sc Psychology student Anand Kumar and RadioClub members.
Salesian College (Autonomous), Sonada, in collaboration with Rimpocha and Tea Promoters India Ltd., will host a Two-Day International Conference on “Darjeeling Tea: Leaf, Life, and Legacy — A multidisciplinary exploration of place, people and possibility.” The event will take place on 27–28 March 2026, bringing together scholars, industry leaders, and community voices to celebrate and reimagine the legacy of Darjeeling Tea.
In a significant initiative aimed at advancing the welfare and sustainable development of the fisherfolk community, the Fishermen Community Development Programme (FCDP), led by the Salesians of Don Bosco, presented a comprehensive set of policy recommendations to Sri V. D. Satheesan, Leader of the Opposition in the Kerala Legislative Assembly.
Marking International Women’s Day, the Theeradesa Mahila Society (TMS), in collaboration with the Fishermen Community Development Programme (FCDP) under the Salesian Province of Bangalore, organised a special programme titled “Nari Kavach” in Kollam, Kerala. The celebration, centred on the theme “Give to Gain,” highlighted women’s empowerment, resilience, and community solidarity.
In the spirit of the Lenten season, around 300 faithful from Don Bosco Parish, Amsam, in the Archdiocese of Trichy, undertook a two-day pilgrimage to the historic Christian shrines of Tuticorin and Kanyakumari. Travelling together in six buses, the pilgrims transformed the journey into a meaningful experience of prayer, fellowship, and spiritual renewal.
Don Bosco Social Development Services (DBSDS), Nerul, celebrated International Women’s Day by honouring women who successfully completed various skill development courses, reaffirming its commitment to empowering women from vulnerable communities through livelihood training.
More than 677 women from 45 villages gathered at DRISTI – Don Bosco, Kapadvanj, to celebrate International Women’s Day and to mark the successful conclusion of the 100-Day Child Marriage Free India Campaign. The event, organised jointly by DRISTI – Don Bosco, PRAYAS Organisation, and the Social Defence Office of Kheda, highlighted the urgent need to eliminate child marriage, widely recognised as a serious social evil that threatens the lives and futures of young girls.
The Don Bosco Institute of Communication Arts (DBICA) organised a three-day media training workshop from March 6 to 8 to equip religious sisters with digital storytelling and communication skills for social advocacy. The programme was conducted for members of religious congregations collaborating with the Amrat India Trust’s mission.
Dr Casimir Raj M, a Salesian of Don Bosco and Member of the Tamil Nadu Commission for Protection of Child Rights (TNCPCR), participated in an International Women’s Day programme promoting the safety and rights of women and girl children at the PMSSY Conference Hall (Kannadi Maligai), Government Mohan Kumaramangalam Medical College Hospital, Salem.
The Department of Mass Communication at Assam Don Bosco University hosted an enriching cross-cultural dialogue, bringing together distinguished media and academic leaders from Sri Lanka for an engaging exchange of ideas.
The 26th Assembly of the Salesian Provincials Conference of South Asia (SPCSA) commenced on March 2 at the Don Bosco Institute, Guwahati, bringing together 45 participants for a two-day deliberation on leadership, mission, and youth ministry. The inaugural session was held in the presence of Fr Biju Michael, President of SPCSA and Regional Councillor for South Asia, and Fr Rafael Bejarano, General Councillor for Youth Ministry from Rome.
The sixth session of the Classroom to Career seminar series, curated by Don Bosco Avsar, was held at the Don Bosco Provincial House AV Hall and offered undergraduate students timely insights on the theme “AI at the Workplace.”
The Deanery of Sciences, Salesian College (Autonomous), Siliguri, successfully hosted the Two-Day National Conference on Trends in Science and Technology (TIST 2026) on 27–28 February, marking the decennial edition of the event, which started in 2017.
