Salesian Provincial Conference of South Asia [SPCSA] Virtual Assembly Underway

The Don Bosco Salesian Provincial Conference of South Asia [SPCSA] Assembly is currently in progress from 01 to 03 September 2020 via the virtual medium. Convoked under the leadership of the SPCSA President Father Biju Michael, South Asia Regional Councillor, 40 Salesians are participating in this virtual assembly including Province Delegates and South Asia Sector and Dimenison Coordinators, apart from the Provincials of the South Asia region.
The assembly started on Day 01 with a prayer led by Father Clive Telles [INP] with a silent remembrance of the Salesians who unfortunately succumbed to the COVID-19. South Asia Regional Councillor Father Biju Michael introduced the assembly proceedings, welcoming the new members and providing information on the SPCSA effected appointments and transfers. The presentation of the 2019-2020 reports of the various Networks and the proposed plans for 2020-21 followed, with each Network Coordinator presenting the salient points in the allotted 20 minutes. The presentations were in the following order: SAFC - Father Jose Kuttianimattathil Salesian Family - Father Albert Johnson Missions - Father TJ Francis YaR - Father Tony Pellisery BOSCOM - Father Ernest Rosario BOSCONET - Father Noel Maddhichetty DB Tech - Father George Mathew DBYA - Father Robert Simon (DEAL, Job Placement) Trademark - Father Joseph Manipadam Schools - Father Babu Mannisery Higher Education - Father Thaddeus Salesian Brothers - Brother Jose Puthenpurackal Economers` Forum - Father Amaladoss Samson A common discussion on the `Effectiveness of various networks and its impact in the Provinces`, was followed by Presentation of the Youth Policy by Father Robert Simon; Proposal for Migrant Ministry by Father Tony Pellisery; Presentation of the New South Asia Website, details of the podcast, and future BOSCOM plans by Father Ernest Rosario; and Status of DB Tech and Sale of DBSM by Father Jose Mathew. The Assembly is also considering suggestions on redefining the geographical boundaries of the Indian Provinces with the evangelical perspective proposed by the Provincial Chapter of the Salesian Province of New Delhi [INN], which noted that some provinces are too big and others too small with disproportionate distribution of confreres. The assembly is expected to close at 12:30 pm on Thursday 03 September.
