KDS Empowers Goa Students with Career-Ready Skills

News reported by: Mr. Noah Rodrigues (INP JPN C)

Don Bosco’s Konkan Development Society (KDS) organised a specialised dual-phase Professional Empowerment and Career Readiness Session for 26 students at the Goa College of Home Science, Panjim, equipping them with essential tools to transition effectively from academia to employment.

Conducted through the Don Bosco Job Placement Network, the initiative focused on bridging the gap between traditional classroom learning and the dynamic demands of the modern job market. By integrating digital onboarding with targeted soft skills training, the workshop enabled participants to develop both technical preparedness and professional confidence.

The programme commenced with a “Data Camp,” marking a crucial first step in the students’ professional journey. During this phase, all 26 participants were successfully registered on the Don Bosco Job Placement Network. This onboarding process turned them from passive candidates into active job seekers, helping them connect with recruiters and passive candidates across industries.

The second phase of the workshop centred on intensive soft-skills training, with a strong emphasis on personalised resume development. Moving beyond conventional templates, students were guided to identify and articulate their unique strengths by translating their Home Science knowledge into transferable skills relevant across multiple sectors. The training encouraged authenticity, urging participants to avoid generic statements and instead craft professional summaries that reflect their individual aspirations and competencies.

We also reviewed the presentation and structure of resumes, emphasising clarity, organisation, and visual appeal in professional documentation. Facilitators underscored that a well-designed resume not only communicates qualifications but also reflects discipline and attention to detail.

The overarching objective of the session was to empower students to present their achievements strategically and confidently. With personalised resumes and direct access to employment networks, participants are better positioned to access career opportunities that align with their academic background and professional goals.
