Don Bosco Workshop Equips Panjim Night School Students for Careers

The Don Bosco Konkan Development Society organised a "Job Readiness and Career Pathways" workshop for 26 students of Don Bosco Night School, Panjim, on July 24. The session focused on practical skills, career guidance and access to safe employment opportunities.

The programme aimed to help students, many of whom balance work and studies, prepare for sustainable careers. It also introduced them to modern recruitment practices, digital job platforms and higher education opportunities.

Facilitators highlighted the importance of employability skills beyond academic qualifications, emphasising digital literacy, effective communication, adaptability, and professional conduct as attributes employers seek. Students were also encouraged to keep upgrading their skills to remain competitive in the evolving job market.

A key feature of the session was a live demonstration of donboscojobs.org, the official portal of the Don Bosco Job Placement Network (DBJPN). Participants learned how to create professional profiles, access career counselling, enrol in skill development programmes and search for verified entry-level opportunities.

The workshop also focused on promoting safe and ethical employment practices. Facilitators cautioned students against fraudulent recruitment agencies and unsafe workplaces, explaining that the DBJPN connects candidates only with verified employers that offer fair wages, legal safeguards and secure working conditions.

To broaden career prospects, the resource persons also demonstrated the National Testing Agency (NTA) portal, familiarising students with competitive examinations and higher education options nationwide.e.

The programme concluded with an interactive data camp during which teachers and facilitators assisted every participant in registering on the Don Bosco jobs portal. All 26 students created profiles and learned how to monitor regional job fairs, walk-in interviews and future skill development programmes.

Organisers said the initiative reflects Don Bosco's commitment to empowering young people through practical career guidance and industry-linked support systems. By combining digital tools, career counselling and verified placement services, the programme aims to help students pursue meaningful employment and long-term economic independence.
