DBYC, Basin Bridge glows at Glasgow!

. Chennai: Anthony Amalraj, a parishioner and member of Don Bosco Youth Centre (DBYC), Basin Bridge, bagged a Silver to make India proud at the Common Wealth Games just ended at Glasgow. DBYC will be giving him a grand reception and felicitation tomorrow, 10 August at Basin Bridge, Chennai.
Pairing with Sharath Kamal, Anthony Amalraj assured India of its first table tennis medal at Glasgow by reaching the men`s doubles final beating Singapore`s Yang Zi and Shan Jian 11-7, 12-10, 11-3 in the semifinals held at Scotstoun Sports Campus. However, the pair went down at the hands of the mighty Singaporean pair, Gao Ning and Li Hu! Anthony Amalraj is a parishioner of Mary Help of Christians parish, Basin Bridge and is a member of the Don Bosco Youth Centre, where he began his stint with Table Tennis as a lad. Today his journey with Table Tennis has reached a remarkable landmark opening before him a grand highway to fame and responsibility to his nation. Happy with his achievement, Anthony Amalraj refuses to agree that he has reached the peak of his success; he is all eyes on the Rio Olympics 2016. The Parish and the Youth Centre gear themselves up to receive their local celebrity on Sunday, 10th August, 2014. The Parish has already announced a thanksgiving Eucharistic Celebration at 8 am and the Youth Centre plans a fitting felicitation the same day, the day that he arrives in India. It is heartening to see genuine talents spring up from locales as simple as Basin Bridge. Will this be the dawn of a young and energetic India, throbbing to establish its skill and talents?
