Bosch India Foundation Partners with Don Bosco Tech for Skilling
News reported by: Eugene Florence
Don Bosco Tech Society and the Bosch India Foundation (BIF) have partnered to launch a pan-India Automotive Technician Skill Development Program, a significant step toward empowering youth. We established the core framework of this collaboration during an online meeting on March 31, 2026, bringing together BIF representatives and the heads of 17 Don Bosco ITI and Diploma institutions with automotive-related training.
SkillVention, which brought together the skilling forum of Don Bosco and Industry, took action by launching an add-on skilling program across all TVET centres. Chaired by Fr. Eugene Florence, Director of the Don Bosco Skills Mission, the virtual gathering included heads of TEVT centres. Representing BIF were Mr Ratan Kumar, Lead for National Skills Development, and Mr Shanmugam, State Lead for Skills Development in Tamil Nadu. The meeting's discussion focused heavily on initiating a pilot program for final-year students specialising in the automotive sector.
The proposed short-term courses are designed to equip students, especially those from less privileged backgrounds, with practical skills, industry exposure, and improved employment prospects. The curriculum will prepare youth for specific roles, such as Automotive Service Technician and Automotive Service Advisor, using a training model that emphasises hands-on experience alongside theoretical learning and employability skills.
This initiative is built on a strong, shared division of responsibilities to ensure student success. Participating Don Bosco institutions will lead student mobilisation, deliver training, and provide employment assistance. In turn, the Bosch India Foundation will supply the curriculum support, assessment systems, and essential industry linkages.
Institutional leaders at the meeting expressed their readiness to implement the program, viewing it as a highly valuable opportunity to strengthen the collaboration between educational institutions and the automotive industry. Following this initial pilot phase, a larger-scale rollout is planned for September 2026, extending the program's reach to even more Don Bosco institutions nationwide.
This collaboration is a vital step in Don Bosco Tech’s mission to guide young people toward meaningful livelihoods and ensure their skills training leads to real-world opportunities and a better future.
