Don Bosco School, Alaknanda, was privileged to host Fr. Fabio Attard, the 11th Successor of Don Bosco, during his official visit on Tuesday, 10 February 2026. The Rector Major was accompanied by Fr. Biju Michael, Regional Superior for South Asia; Fr. Thathireddy Vijayabhaskar, Private Secretary to the Rector Major; and Fr. Davis Maniparemben, Provincial of the Delhi Province.
The visit began with a ceremonial welcome marked by dignity and warmth. NCC cadets presented a Guard of Honour as the Rector Major toured the campus of Don Bosco School, Alaknanda, escorted by the Salesian community. Students greeted him with a standing ovation as he entered the school auditorium, showering petals in a spontaneous expression of joy and reverence.
A vibrant cultural programme followed, opening with a soulful welcome song by the school choir and an audio-visual presentation tracing the institution's life, mission, and educational journey. Rev. Fr. Binny Isaac, Rector, Director, and Manager, delivered the welcome address, expressing heartfelt joy at the Rector Major's visit and describing him as the “living Don Bosco” among the school community.
The felicitation ceremony that followed saw the honoured guests presented with symbolic tokens of gratitude. Addressing the gathering, Fr. Fabio Attard delivered a deeply reflective and motivating message rooted in the life and mission of Don Bosco. He recalled Don Bosco as a man who made education meaningful by dedicating himself to service, especially for boys who had little chance in life. “Don Bosco’s story,” he said, “is a story of generosity,” urging students and educators alike to remain grateful for their roots and opportunities. Emphasizing personal responsibility, he underlined that true happiness arises from the honest fulfilment of one’s duties—a message that resonated strongly with the young audience.
An engaging interactive session followed, during which students and teachers posed questions to the Rector Major. Responding with warmth and clarity, he highlighted empathy, gratitude and kindness as essential values, and reflected on the critical role of educators in guiding young minds amid today’s flood of information, both necessary and distracting.
The programme concluded with a self-composed homage to Don Bosco sung by students and teachers, followed by a vote of thanks proposed by Rev. Fr. Sujith Augustine, Principal of the school. The visit was widely described as memorable and enriching, leaving the Don Bosco Alaknanda community inspired and renewed in its educational mission.
