Hon’ble Chief Minister of Meghalaya visits Don Bosco Technical School, Shillong

Don Bosco Technical School, Shillong, was privileged with a visit from the Honourable Chief Minister of Meghalaya, Mr Conrad K Sangma, on June 28. His free and spontaneous interaction with the trainees motivated them and encouraged them to strive patiently through training for employment or entrepreneurship.

The Chief Minister visited the training facilities and Labs of different trades. He took time to interact with the trainees of Don Bosco Tech and motivated them to take the training seriously and ensure that they take up employment or self-employment. He was happy to learn that the trainees were already with job offers and would be travelling to Mumbai.

During a short formal function organised on the campus, Father Arcadius Puwein, Principal, welcomed all the dignitaries, members of the management, teachers and trainees. He said that having Don Bosco ITI institute is a blessing to many youths since most of those youth coming to Don Bosco are those who did not get admission in other colleges or institutes, and most of these youth were able to find a pathway for learning and earning through the training and growth opportunities offered in the campus.

The Chief Minister distributed the course completion certificate and job offer letters to the training of Food and Beverage Service and Automobile (MMV) trainees, trained by Don Bosco Tech Society under the Skills Meghalaya project funded by MSSDS.

In his address to the young people on the campus, Chief Minister encouraged and motivated them to pursue their training and studies with patience and perseverance. His examples from his own life motivated them. The Chief Minister reminded the youth they are in a much better position with the support and opportunities provided by the government and the MSSDS for skill training and livelihood possibilities. He encouraged everyone to grab the opportunity to equip themselves with the required skills, get employed and become an entrepreneur.

Father Saji Stephen proposed the vote of thanks and assured the youth that the Don Bosco Institution would continue to remain committed to them.
