DON BOSCO CHINNARA TANGUDHAMA (Transit Home for School Dropouts) CATCH THEM YOUNG AND WATCH THEM GROW`` Don Bosco Chinnara Tangudhama at Don Bosco Academy in Sutgatti Hubli is a transit home for school dropouts. It is a home for the children who are involved in antisocial activities. This centre caters to children with unhealthy behaviors and habits like alcoholism, drug usage, street children, runaway children and children into child labor, migrants, juvenile delinquents and the homeless. It is a specialized educational training centre for children who are uneducated or having low education level. In this training centre the children are provided basic necessities to empower them for education and build them up for the main stream of education. Don Bosco Chinnara Tangudhama provides boarding and lodging for these children (boys as well as girls) between the age group of 6 - 14 years. Here a child is given an all round development ie. in studies as well as extra-curricular activities such as drawing, craft, singing, dancing, meditation, yoga & sports. There is a strong and dedicated staff to look after these children who round the clock assist the children in their everyday activity. The two teachers, a student counselor, a doctor, a field worker, a helper and the fathers and brothers of Don Bosco help the kids to mould their lives for a better future. At present we have a group of 50 children who avail these facilities. The institute sees to the health and care of each child and also provides all the basic necessities. This programe was first started on an experiment basis in November 2011. Of the first fifty children enrolled at the centre, we were able to enroll back into regular school 30 children. The second batch was inaugurated by Fr. Ian, the Provincial of Panjim Konkan Province on 2 July 2012. A short felicitation and some cultural dances were the highlight of the inauguration programme.
