Leaders of the St Joseph’s Province convened at the Provincial House from January 8 to 10, calling for stronger accountability mechanisms, enhanced legal awareness, and a renewed pastoral engagement with young people.

A major focus of the three-day meeting was impact assessment and land documentation. Br. Castilino Vincent, the Province Economer, underlined that funding agencies increasingly expect measurable outcomes alongside strict compliance with legal norms. Sessions trained leaders to systematically assess land, buildings, institutions, human resources, and finances, while stressing the importance of maintaining updated records to meet government and donor requirements. Technical inputs by Mr. Ramesh addressed digital verification of land records, including guidance on accessing Encumbrance Certificates and interpreting official land documentation through government portals.

Legal preparedness emerged as another priority during an interactive session led by Mr. Bollu Ramesh of the Nalgonda Police Station. He addressed issues related to public order, cybercrime, disturbances in educational institutions, and crimes against women and minors, outlining procedures and responsibilities to enable leaders to handle sensitive situations with prudence and responsibility.

Fr. Santiagu Thomas, the Provincial, presented key insights from the Extraordinary Visitation, followed by group discussions that led to concrete guidelines to strengthen community life and enhance mission effectiveness. In a significant pastoral reflection, he reframed youth ministry from a vocational perspective, urging a shift from programme-driven models to an approach centred on accompaniment—journeying with young people through listening, participation, and shared leadership.

The meeting concluded with a reflection on Dilexit Te, the Apostolic Exhortation of Pope Leo XIV. Participants reaffirmed the Church’s preferential option for the poor and highlighted education, simplicity of life, and solidarity with the marginalised as central pillars of the Province’s mission going forward.
