Third Don Bosco Knockout Football Tournament Kicks Off at Pathaliaghat

The Third Don Bosco Knockout Football Tournament was inaugurated with great enthusiasm at St. Xavier’s Higher Secondary School, Pathaliaghat. The grand opening ceremony, held at the Don Bosco Mini Stadium, brought together students, staff, parents, and guests to celebrate the spirit of sportsmanship and unity.

Shri Bikash Debbarma, Minister for Tribal Welfare, Handloom, Sericulture, and Statistics, Government of Tripura, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. He was joined by other dignitaries, including Mr. Nandu Debbarma, Fr. K.K. Joseph, and Fr. Glorius Syiemlieh.

The programme began with a rousing welcome by the school band, followed by the traditional lighting of the ceremonial lamp and the hoisting of the tournament flag. In his inaugural address, Shri Debbarma commended the school’s continued commitment to nurturing young talent through sports. He urged the players to embody discipline, teamwork, and fair play both on and off the field.

Adding colour to the ceremony, students presented a lively cultural performance that showcased their enthusiasm and creativity. The highlight of the day was the opening match between Valore FC and Longtrai FC, which officially marked the start of the tournament. The Chief Guest and dignitaries greeted the teams before the start, setting a tone of camaraderie and healthy competition.

The event concluded amid cheers and applause, capturing the essence of youthful energy and sportsmanship. The successful inauguration stood as a testament to the collaborative spirit of the Don Bosco community and its dedication to holistic education through sports.
