DB Borivali School Students Take On Beach Clean-Up Drive

News written by: Welsey Pereira & Rahul Pereira

The students of Std. 9 and 10 from Don Bosco High School, Borivli (W), rolled up their sleeves and took to the shoreline for a Beach Clean-up Drive organized by the school. The initiative aimed to raise awareness about marine pollution and encourage young people to take responsibility for protecting the environment.

A total of 26 students—15 boys and 11 girls—participated in the drive, accompanied by four teachers who guided them throughout the activity. Equipped with gloves and masks for safety, the students divided into smaller groups and spread out across different sections of the beach.

With determination, they collected heaps of litter, including plastic bottles, wrappers, polythene bags, broken glass, discarded thermocol, and other non-biodegradable waste. Working alongside BMC staff gave the students a more profound sense of civic responsibility and community spirit.

Many expressed shock at the sheer extent of pollution caused by human negligence and improper waste disposal, realizing its harmful impact on marine life, natural beauty, and ecological balance.

Teachers accompanying the students emphasized the importance of reducing plastic use, segregating waste, and involving communities in environmental protection.
