Salesian College Unveils North Bengal’s First Educational VR Lab
Salesian College (Autonomous), Siliguri, set a new benchmark in educational innovation with the launch of North Bengal’s first-ever Virtual Reality (VR) Lab. The facility, located in the Salesian Library, was inaugurated by Fr. (Dr) Joseph Pauria, Provincial of the Kolkata Salesian Province, in a ceremony attended by college management, faculty, students, and alumni.
Equipped with 10 cutting-edge VR systems, the lab aims to revolutionize learning across disciplines, enabling students to engage in immersive experiences such as historical reconstructions, scientific simulations, creative storytelling, and vocational training.
“This lab reflects our commitment to preparing students for a future shaped by innovation and empathy,” remarked Fr. Pauria, commending the college for taking a bold step toward transformative education. Fr. Dr Tomy Augustine, Rector of Salesian College, emphasized the lab’s significance in promoting experiential learning and interdisciplinary collaboration.
As the first institution in the region to offer a dedicated educational VR facility, Salesian College continues its leadership in academic innovation and youth empowerment, reinforcing its mission to stay ahead of emerging educational trends.
