Don Bosco Youth Centre Director Honoured with Vocational Excellence Award
Fr Michael Makri, Director of Don Bosco Youth Centre, Shillong, was honoured with the Vocational Excellence Awardby the Rotary Club of Shillong on June 24 in recognition of his dedicated service to the empowerment and welfare of young people.
The prestigious award acknowledged Fr Makri’s outstanding contribution to vocational training and his sustained efforts to equip youth with skills and opportunities for a better future. Through his leadership at the Don Bosco Youth Centre, Shillong, he has been actively involved in promoting skill development, youth empowerment, and welfare initiatives to transform the lives of young people, especially those from disadvantaged backgrounds.
The award was presented by Shri Paul Lyngdoh, MLA and Adviser to the Government of Meghalaya, during a ceremony attended by members of the Rotary Club and other dignitaries.
Fr Makri’s recognition is seen as a tribute not only to his personal commitment but also to the wider mission of Don Bosco institutions in nurturing the potential of young people through education, training, and holistic development. His work has significantly strengthened vocational education as a pathway to dignity, self-reliance, and meaningful employment for youth in the region.
