Salesian Pedagogy Training Empowers Educators in Hyderabad
News reported by: BIS Corresspondent
A two-day intensive Salesian Pedagogy Training Programme was conducted at the Don Bosco Provincial House, Hyderabad, on 27th and 28th April, bringing together 57 participants, including School Principals, Vice Principals, and School Coordinators from across the Hyderabad Province. The resource person, Fr. John Parankimalil, Secretary of AIDBES and SPCSA, facilitated the sessions with depth and clarity.
The workshop, titled “Educating with the Heart of Don Bosco: A Journey into Salesian Pedagogy,” aimed at deepening the understanding of Don Bosco’s educational vision and equipping educators with practical tools to implement his pedagogy in contemporary educational settings.
Fr. Chinnappa, Provincial School Coordinator, welcomed the gathering. The first day focused on rediscovering Don Bosco’s life, mission, and educational philosophy, highlighting his Preventive System based on Reason, Religion, and Loving Kindness. Through engaging sessions, discussions, and reflections, participants explored how Don Bosco’s vision remains relevant in today’s educational landscape.
The second day shifted towards practical application, enabling educators to translate Salesian principles into classroom practices and institutional culture. Interactive sessions encouraged participants to adopt a heart-centred approach to education, focusing on accompaniment, presence, and the holistic development of young people.
Participants actively engaged in group discussions, case reflections, and strategy-building exercises to foster environments that nurture not only academic excellence but also character formation and spiritual growth.
The training was widely appreciated for its balance between theory and practice. The sessions incorporated real-life examples, storytelling, and experiential learning, helping educators internalise the essence of Salesian pedagogy—education as a mission of the heart.
In her vote of thanks, Mrs Asha Kumari, Principal of Don Bosco School, Motinagar, captured the spirit of the workshop, noting that while pedagogy provides structure, the vision of Don Bosco gives education direction and purpose.
The workshop concluded with participants renewing their commitment to become educators who are not merely instructors but mentors, guides, and companions to the young. The training reaffirmed that Salesian education is not just a methodology but a way of life rooted in compassion, faith, and dedication to the holistic development of youth.
