Bosco Reach Out Helps Students Create Career Pathways at Nagaon
In a significant step toward empowering rural youth with knowledge and direction, Bosco Reach Out – Career Guidance and Job Placement Services, Guwahati, successfully organized a Career Guidance Program for students of Nagaon district on November 7 at the Jubilee Training Centre of the Assam Baptist Convention, Nagaon Town.
The day-long event brought together over 100 students from diverse educational levels — Classes 9, 10, and 12, as well as college and ITI students — to explore career possibilities, understand their aptitudes, and develop clarity about their future goals.
The primary aim of the initiative was to enhance career awareness and decision-making among young people, especially from the Adivasi and Garo communities, by helping them identify suitable educational and vocational pathways.
A key highlight of the programme was an engaging session on Howard Gardner’s Theory of Multiple Intelligences, which helped participants discover their individual strengths. Through the MI assessment, students gained valuable insights into their dominant intelligence types — whether linguistic, logical, interpersonal, or kinesthetic — enabling them to align their career goals with their personal potential. Facilitators emphasized that self-awareness of one’s intelligence profile can lead to more meaningful and confident career choices.
The sessions also introduced students to emerging career opportunities across various sectors, highlighting the growing importance of technical education, skill development, and entrepreneurship in Assam’s evolving socio-economic landscape.
Participants expressed great enthusiasm for the programme, describing it as eye-opening and transformative. “I never realized how understanding my own skills could help me choose the right career,” said one participant, reflecting the newfound awareness shared by many.
The event was coordinated by Fr. Sebastian, Executive Director of Bosco Reach Out; Fr. Ignatius, Associate Director; and Mr. David, Regional Coordinator of Don Bosco Career Guidance and Job Placement Services.
This initiative stands as a testament to Bosco Reach Out’s ongoing mission to empower youth through education, skill-building, and career readiness—helping them chart confident pathways toward a brighter, self-reliant future.
