In a vibrant celebration of heritage and identity, Don Bosco School, Chingmeirong, Manipur, hosted its inaugural two-day cultural festival, “Cultural Extravaganza 2025: My Culture, My Pride,” on October 17–18. The event marked a significant milestone in the school’s commitment to integrating cultural values into education, drawing enthusiastic participation from students, teachers, parents, and community members.

The festival was inaugurated by Shri Somorjit Salam IAS, Special Secretary of Health and Family Welfare, Relief and Disaster Management, who served as chief guest on the first day. Shri Ningombam Bupenda Meitei, Advocate at the Supreme Court of India and High Court of Manipur, joined as guest of honour. On the second day, the school welcomed Shri Angam Romanus Kamei, Inspector General of Police and a distinguished Bosconian alumnus, as chief guest, with Rev. Fr. Albert Tirkey SDB, Parish Priest and Vice Rector, attending as guest of honour.

Over the course of two days, the school campus transformed into a living mosaic of India’s cultural diversity. Day one featured traditional dance performances by students from classes 7 to 12, a model village exhibition crafted by classes 9 to 12, and student-run food stalls that offered regional delicacies. A photo corner added a festive touch, allowing attendees to capture memories in traditional attire.

Day two continued the celebration with a fashion show spotlighting students from classes 2 to 6 dressed in traditional outfits, alongside live performances and interactive cultural activities. The event underscored the importance of cultural education in fostering identity, pride, and unity among young learners.

School authorities described the festival as a “successful fusion of traditional values and contemporary creativity,” emphasizing how each performance contributed to a broader narrative of shared cultural identity. “The spirit of unity in diversity was evident throughout the two-day celebration,” said school representatives, highlighting the festival’s role in promoting social harmony through cultural acceptance.

The presence of accomplished Bosconian alumni as chief guests added a layer of inspiration for current students, demonstrating how cultural grounding can coexist with professional excellence. Their participation reinforced the message that cultural education is not only about preservation but also about empowerment.

As the curtains closed on the inaugural edition of Cultural Extravaganza 2025, organizers expressed satisfaction with the event’s reception and its impact on students. The school administration indicated that the festival’s success positions it as a potential annual fixture, reinforcing the importance of cultural promotion in shaping well-rounded, socially conscious citizens.

A visitor remarked, "Don Bosco School’s initiative stands as a testament to the enduring relevance of cultural education".: It is a reminder that pride in one’s heritage is not just a celebration, but a foundation for lifelong learning and unity.
