Don Bosco Sports Academy Sweeps 8 Golds at South Asian International Games
Don Bosco Sports Academy (DBSA), Dimapur, etched its name in history as its Shaolin Kung-Fu students won all eight gold medals in their categories at the 4th South Asian International Games, held in Kathmandu, Nepal, from September 10–12.
In collaboration with the All Nagaland Shaolin Kung-Fu Association (ANSKA), DBSA delivered a flawless performance at the Shankhadol Karate Academy in Jorpati, showcasing the strength of its training program and discipline.
The junior team set the pace with stellar performances: Saronthung Christopher Yanthan claimed gold in the under-13 Kata (45kg), Abdul Sahir triumphed in the under-13 Sanda (40kg), and Paramita Paul secured gold in the under-14 Kata (55kg).
Building on their success, senior competitors extended the winning streak. Namlang Zeliang won the under-18 Sanda (50kg), Nyurhunlo Kent dominated the under-23 Sanda (60kg), and Ayhunlo Jude Khing captured the 28-year Sanda title (70kg).
The masters category sealed DBSA’s perfect record, with Razouleu Caroline Sorunuo taking gold in Kata (under 80 kg) and Meyiesielie Albert Sorunuo winning the Sanda championship (under 115 kg).
Despite challenging conditions in Nepal, the academy’s preparation and the unwavering trust of parents and guardians paid off. Guided by Lady Deputy Grandmaster and Chief General (Honorary) Nono Teresa Sorunuo, the team’s clean sweep reflected DBSA’s commitment to sporting excellence and its growing reputation in martial arts within the Don Bosco educational network.
