The Vocation Commission of the Salesian Province of Panjim–Konkan organized a vibrant three-day Hill Thrill Camp from October 2 to 4 at Don Bosco Academy (DBA), Sutgatti–Hubli, exclusively for boys from standards six to ten across North Karnataka. The event drew 52 enthusiastic participants, primarily from Sirsi, with others from Tumrikopa, Londa, Dharwad, and Hubli.

The camp opened with a warm welcome by Father Lionel Braganza, Rector of DBA, followed by an introduction by Father Infancio Pires, a core organizer alongside Brother James Marcus. Engaging ice-breakers quickly helped the boys bond, setting a lively tone for the days ahead. Team activities encouraged friendship and cooperation, culminating in an energetic evening of games.

Rector Father Sandesh Fernandes delivered an inspiring session on the importance of life goals and time management, aligning with the camp’s vocational focus. Father Merwin Fernandes, Principal of DBA, familiarized the boys with the Salesian system of education and shared insights about Salesian institutions worldwide. The evening concluded with an animated Rosary, a “Good Night Talk” by Brother Marcus, and exciting night games.

The second day began with morning exercises and a Eucharistic celebration led by Father Braganza. The boys took part in dorm cleaning—an amusing new experience for many—before listening to Father Siggy, who spoke on the Salesian missionary spirit. Later, the boys showcased creativity during a keychain-making workshop, crafting personalized souvenirs.

Brother Marcus guided the group through discussions on life choices and career paths, while Father James D’Souzai introduced them to Salesian social work and Young at Risk (YaR) programs. The afternoon featured a spirited hike and campfire, where Father Banzelao Teixeira, Vice Provincial, shared stories about Don Bosco, and participants sang, danced, and performed skits under the stars.

The camp concluded with a Thanksgiving Mass celebrated by Father Teixeira, followed by a cheerful prize distribution ceremony. Lay collaborators Santosh, Patrick, and Sairaj played a vital role in supporting the event, which left the young campers inspired, joyful, and deeply connected to the Salesian spirit.
