The solemn Holy Mass, presided over by the Cathedral Rector with diocesan clergy and Salesian confreres, drew priests, religious, and lay faithful. In his homily, the celebrant recalled Fr. Convertini’s life of simplicity, prayer, and tireless service to the poor, noting how his missionary zeal embodied the spirit of Don Bosco among the people of Bengal, particularly in Krishnagar.

After the Eucharist, a prayerful procession led the faithful to Fr. Convertini’s tomb inside the Cathedral premises. Hymns, prayers, and blessings marked the devotion, with many offering flowers and seeking his intercession for families, youth, and the local Church.

Born in Italy in 1898, Fr. Convertini arrived in India as a missionary and dedicated over five decades to evangelization, catechesis, and pastoral ministry in Bengal. His heroic virtues were recognized by Pope Francis in 2019 when he was declared Venerable.

The commemoration once again highlighted the deep reverence the faithful hold for this humble missionary. With prayers for his beatification and canonization, the celebration affirmed the enduring inspiration of Fr. Convertini’s life of holiness and his legacy of love for the poor and young.
