A landmark collaboration between the Don Bosco Tech Society and the Meghalaya State Skill Development Society (MSSDS) has resulted in an impressive 84.4% job placement rate, transforming the lives of 135 young people trained in hospitality. Within just three months, 114 graduates have secured positions in India’s growing hospitality industry, underscoring the power of strategic partnerships in skill development and youth empowerment.

The initiative, delivered through DBTech’s Shillong and Mawkasiang Centres, offered specialized training in food and beverage service and Housekeeping. Of the 60 trainees in Food & Beverage Service at the Shillong Centre, 51 have launched careers in hotels, restaurants, and resorts nationwide—an impressive 85% placement rate. Meanwhile, at the Mawkasiang Centre, 75 students completed Housekeeping training, with 63 securing employment, yielding an 84% success rate.

The curriculum, developed in consultation with industry experts, went beyond traditional classroom teaching. It combined rigorous practical modules and immersive apprenticeships designed to meet real-world demands. Trainees in Food & Beverage mastered beverage service, customer interaction, and hygiene protocols, while Housekeeping students gained expertise in sanitation, inventory control, and eco-conscious practices.

The program’s success lies in its industry-aligned approach and the commitment to equipping youth with job-ready skills. The few who remain unplaced (15%) have either opted for other career avenues or declined job offers due to personal reasons.

This outcome marks a significant milestone for Meghalaya’s youth, positioning the state as a model for employment-driven skill development in India.
