The Principals of Salesian schools in the Province of Guwahati gathered for their annual meeting on June 7 to discuss significant matters affecting the educational landscape.

Fr. Sebastian Kuricheal, SDB, Provincial, expressed gratitude to the Principals for their presence. He highlighted the crucial responsibility that educators have in shaping the lives of young people. He emphasized that while academic performance is essential, it is equally vital to focus on the overall development of students. "Our role as educators is not limited to academics. We must ensure we connect with our students on a personal level, providing them with the guidance and care they need," he remarked.

Fr. Sebastian also emphasized the importance of discipline, maintaining school infrastructure, and proper record-keeping, urging the Principals to ensure that schools are well-maintained both inside and out. He encouraged a strong connection with students, particularly in the primary sections, and emphasized the importance of instilling core values early in their education.

The Provincial further outlined several key responsibilities that the Principals must uphold:
1. Foster a strong bond with students and parents, becoming a father figure to all.
2. Enforce discipline firmly and consistently.
3. Maintain the cleanliness and upkeep of the school's environment and infrastructure.
4. Keep records organized and up-to-date.
5. Advance the Don Bosco School Excellence Mission (DBSEM) with innovative changes.
6. Collaborate effectively with the Sisters in the schools.
7. Give special attention to younger students in lower classes, as they will be the future caretakers of the institution.
8. Commit to running the school with excellence, ensuring that the tasks are completed effectively.

The meeting included various sharing sessions. Sandeep Dey, the Academic Excellence Manager at Headword Publishing Company, shared valuable insights on educational strategies. It was followed by an enlightening introduction to Abacus by Rahul Kumar, designed to enhance students' cognitive abilities.

Fr. MC George SDB spoke about the upcoming Mini Boscoree at Don Bosco School, Barpeta Road, which brings together a vibrant community of students and educators. Fr. Jogesh B. Sangma, SDB, shared his thoughts on strengthening Past Pupils' organizations, recognizing their importance in fostering alumni engagement and support. Fr. Threnius N. Sangma SDB provided insights into the Sports Academy and the numerous activities organized by the committee, highlighting the role of physical education in holistic development.

The session concluded with an open discussion moderated by Fr. Nicodim Aind SDB, which provided an opportunity for the Principals to voice their concerns and suggestions. Fr. Kerobin Minj SDB, expressing appreciation for the contributions of all present. Fr. Alex Kattakayam SDB, Sector Head of School Education, and Fr. Nicodim Aind SDB, Secretary of School Education of the Province, planned and executed the programme.
