Salesian Family Day 2026 Celebrated with Faith, Fellowship, and Joy in Mumbai

The annual Salesian Family Day (SALFAM) 2026 was celebrated with deep faith, vibrant fellowship, and joyful togetherness on January 25, 2026, at the Fr. Bernard Fernandes Hall, Don Bosco High School. The gathering brought together 180 members of the Salesian Family from across the Mumbai Province, encompassing Maharashtra and Gujarat.

Participants included Salesian Cooperators, members of the Association of Mary Help of Christians, and past pupils from Don Bosco and Auxilium institutions. The programme began on a prayerful note with a hymn and the ceremonial lighting of the lamp by representatives of the various groups, symbolizing unity and shared mission.

Fr. Diego Nunes, Provincial Delegate, extended a warm welcome to the assembly. The day was formally inaugurated by Fr. Robert Pen, Vice Provincial of the Mumbai Province of Salesians, who conveyed greetings and a message from Fr. Ashley Miranda, Provincial, who was unable to attend due to official commitments. The celebration of the Holy Eucharist, presided over by Fr. Robert Pen and concelebrated by the Salesian priests present, formed the spiritual heart of the day.

In a crisp and insightful presentation, Fr. Robert Pen highlighted the key outcomes of GC29 (February–April 2025), outlining the guiding directions for Salesian mission and activities for the next six years. This was followed by an engaging session by Fr. Joyston Machado, who, using his characteristic humour and clarity, unpacked the Strenna 2026 theme, “Do whatever he tells you.” He linked the theme to the Christian journey of faith—recognizing, interpreting, and choosing—rooted in attentive listening to Jesus.

Adding to the festive spirit, past pupils organized lively games that fostered camaraderie and cheer, with prizes awarded to winners. SALFAM Day concluded with a heartfelt “Thank You” hymn by the SMI Sisters, a vote of thanks, and a sumptuous lunch, bringing the celebration to a joyful close.
