News reported by: Sr. Elphina Rodrigues, FMA
The Pushpanjali Centre and Gujarat Region FMA Community hosted a lively Bal Mela on 30 November, bringing together about 800 enthusiastic children from Baroda, Dakor, Gandhinagar, and Pansora. With the theme “Small Steps to a Brighter Future,” the event blended learning, creativity, and fun in a bright, energetic setting.
The event welcomed honored guests, with Mr Yogendrasinh Ramasinh Parmar as Chief Guest and Sr. Manisha Parmar, Sahayini Development Officer, Bombay, as Guest of Honour. Special invitees included Mr Deepak, Sarpanch of Bhadrasa, and regional Superiors Sr. Rita Dora, Sr. Mariet Lockose, and Sr. Maria Macwan. Sr. Manju Tuscano led the day's sessions, which inspired and enriched the young participants.
For the first time, the Bal Mela brought together all four houses of the Gujarat Region, marking an important step in working together. Children participated in hands-on workshops, games, cultural shows, snack corners, and a popular selfie spot that captured the day's happiness. The air was full of laughter and color as children tried new things and became more confident.
A key highlight was the colorful hand-sign campaign, which asked children to think about how they can act as good citizens. The day ended with everyone making a promise to protect the environment, stand up for children’s rights, and make sure every child feels safe, happy, and respected.
Bal Mela 2025 was not just a fun celebration but also demonstrated that when children, teachers, and communities take small steps together, they can build a better, kinder future.
