The Department of Philosophy, Salesian College of Higher Education (SCHE), in collaboration with the Department of Philosophy, Dimapur Government College (DGC), hosted an Intercollege Dialogue at DGC on Thursday. The event, themed "Bridging Minds, Building Meaning," sought to promote philosophical discussion and deepen collaboration between the two institutions.

The programme opened with a welcome address and introductory remarks by Ms. N. Sentinungla Pongen, Head of the Department of Philosophy, DGC, who underscored the importance of dialogue and mutual learning in shaping critical and reflective thinkers.

The discussions unfolded in two sessions, each moderated by faculty members from both colleges. The first session, titled "Students in the Age of Technology and AI," delved into the complex relationship between young learners and emerging technologies. Participants examined how artificial intelligence and digital tools influence education, human identity, and moral values. Concerns were raised about overdependence on technology and the possible erosion of human interaction and creativity. Speakers emphasized the need for critical thinking, ethical sensitivity, and responsible use of technology.

The second session, "The Relevance of Philosophy Today," explored the continuing importance of philosophical inquiry in contemporary society. Participants reflected on how philosophy encourages questioning assumptions, nurturing empathy, and providing ethical direction in an age of rapid change. The discussion highlighted that philosophy remains essential in helping individuals make sense of complex realities and guiding moral decision-making in a fast-paced, technology-driven world.

The dialogue concluded with both departments affirming their commitment to fostering philosophical literacy, strengthening ethical reflection among students, and building ongoing academic collaboration. The event successfully provided a platform for young scholars to exchange ideas, deepen understanding, and reaffirm the role of philosophy in shaping thoughtful and responsible individuals.
