The Don Bosco National Forum for the Young at Risk (DB YaR Forum) launched the 15th edition of its annual campaign, “Uphold our Hopes – Unfold our Dreams,” in a vibrant celebration hosted by DB Ashalayam, New Delhi, in collaboration with the National DB YaR Team. The hybrid event connected 65 centres across India, fostering unity and renewed commitment to children and young people at risk.

The programme opened with a prayer dance by Snehalaya Girls, followed by the traditional lighting of the lamp. Fr. Maria Arockiadoss, Rector and Director of DB Ashalayam, extended a warm welcome, while Mr. William Kullu highlighted the achievements of the previous campaign, “FAMILY is where I BELONG.” Over the past year, the Forum released 11 flipbooks on campaign themes, strengthening its advocacy efforts for vulnerable children.

Fr. Joe Prabu, Executive Director of the DB National Forum, underlined the significance of the new initiative, recalling Don Bosco’s childhood dream and stressing compassion as a force for change. “Live with realistic hopes, meaningful dreams, and high aspirations,” he urged participants.

The campaign posters were unveiled in the presence of Ms. Vijayalakshmi Arora, Child Protection Specialist at UNICEF, New Delhi, who delivered the keynote address. She commended the cultural performances by children of DB Ashalayam and Snehalaya, and stressed the importance of family care, community support, and shared responsibility in child protection. “Dare to dream big dreams, for those are the dreams that push your world forward,” she said, quoting Ralph Marston.

The cultural segment featured a drama on the campaign theme, poetry recitation, and dance performances by children from Snehalaya and Palam Education Centre. Ms. Moumita concluded the event with a vote of thanks.

The new campaign seeks to inspire communities to create an environment of hope, dignity, and opportunity for every child.
