Skilling Gets Stronger in Assam as Don Bosco Tech Partners with Tata Trusts
Don Bosco Tech Society (DB Tech) has joined hands with Tata Trusts to launch VISTA – Vocational Integration and Skill Training in Assam, a transformative project aimed at equipping youth with job-ready skills and introducing vocational programs at the school level.
The initiative, supported by the Salesian provinces of Guwahati and Dimapur, was developed in collaboration with DB Tech professionals to address the pressing need for skill empowerment in the Northeast. “More than other regions of India, the North East needs a big helping hand in empowering youth through skill training,” DB Tech representatives emphasized while announcing the project.
Over the next three years, 3,570 underprivileged youth will be trained across eight in-demand job roles in sectors such as hospitality, wellness, aviation, IT & ITES, automobile, manufacturing, and electronics.
In addition, VISTA introduces an innovative school integration program for students from Grades 6 to 11, covering Media and Entertainment, Electronics, and STEM Education/Innovation. Students will engage in practical projects—from developing animations to servicing household appliances—bridging classroom theory with real-world application.
The project is being rolled out across Golghat, Rangajan, Diphu, Kamrup, Maligaon, Bapetta Road, and Amguri, ensuring accessibility for youth in both urban and rural Assam. The widespread coverage aims to boost participation and ensure that no region is left underserved.
Unlike conventional skill programs, VISTA is designed as a paradigm shift—integrating vocational training with formal education, preparing students for dignified employment and entrepreneurship. Organizers say the collaboration between DB Tech, Tata Trusts, and the Salesians creates a replicable model that can be scaled to other regions of India.
As VISTA takes root, coordinators anticipate ripple effects that extend beyond individual trainees to strengthen local economies and empower entire communities. By positioning skill-based education at the heart of development, Don Bosco Tech and Tata Trusts are opening new pathways for Northeast youth to contribute meaningfully to India’s growing economy.
