News written by: Devassy Palatty
On 21 November 2009, under the patronage of Don Bosco Youth Centre, Itanagar, the 2nd General Conference of the All Arunachal Private Schools` Association (AAPSA) was held. Wanglin Lowangdong, Hon`ble speaker Arunachal Pradesh, inaugurated the General Conference and delivered the key note address. Speaking at the occasion, Lowangdong lauded the initiative undertaken by the private Schools, under the guidance of the Salesians of Don Bosco. He praised the Salesians, especially the President, Fr. PC Philip for the dynamic leadership given to AAPSA in the past one year from its inception.
Over 60 private school principals/heads of schools from different parts of the State of Arunachal Pradesh attended the function. AAPSA came up as the consequence of a one day Seminar organised by Don Bosco Youth Centre, Itanagar, on ``Educaional leadership for Heads of Schools``, at Itanagar on 06 August 2008 with Dr. C. Kuriala Sdb, Excutive Secretary, CBCI, National Commission for Education from New Delhi as the resource person.
The president of AAPSA, Fr. PC Phlilip, Principal of Don Bosco School, Itanagar claimed that the association is formed to bring all the private schools of the state under one umbrella to bring about quality education, networking and sharing of expertise among the member schools.
Wangling Lowangdong, in his key note address stressed the fact that Arunachal Pradesh suffers from various set backs in the field of education. In this scenario, the Salesians who have been playing leadership roles at various levels, feel proud to provide able guidance in the field of education. It is private schools that provide good education in the state. It is a known and deplorable fact that even though the Government educational machinery has been making efforts to provide good education in the state, it is yet to show tangible results.
While wishing AAPSA, best of luck in its initiatives, the Chief Guest wished that AAPSA be an agent in bringing about qualitative changes in the educational scenario of the State.
