Don Bosco Institution Organises Legal Awareness Programme in Kalaburagi
News reported by: BIS Correspondent Bangalore
Don Bosco Institution, with the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Kalaburagi, and Enfold Organisation, organised a legal awareness programme on children’s rights, child protection, and legal safeguards for women and children at Bhavani Temple, Sanjunagar, on August 22.
Sri Srinivas Navale, Senior Civil Judge and Member Secretary, DLSA, Kalaburagi, was the chief guest. Fr. Kuriakose, Director of Don Bosco Institution, welcomed him and inaugurated the programme.
Addressing the gathering, Navale highlighted key provisions on children’s rights and child protection laws. He stressed the need to prevent violence against children, sexual abuse, child labour, and child marriage, calling for collective responsibility to protect children from exploitation and abuse.
He emphasised that every child has the fundamental right to education and should not be deprived of schooling. Parents, he said, must ensure that their children attend school and receive the encouragement and support needed to continue their education.
Advocate Smt. Geetha also addressed the gathering, highlighting violence against women and legal rights. She urged women and children facing violence, abuse or injustice to approach the appropriate government departments and legal services institutions for assistance and protection.
Pamphlets on child protection, education, child marriage, child labour and violence against women and children were distributed among the participants.
Around 80 people attended the programme. The participants actively engaged with the sessions and gained an understanding of legal rights and available support.
