News reported by: Vincent Joseph
Don Bosco ITI, Chinchwad, hosted a certificate distribution ceremony celebrating 60 trainees who completed an intensive Electric Vehicle (EV) training programme conducted under the initiatives of The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI), including EIACP and GSDP.
Held at the institute’s AV hall, the event brought together trainees, faculty, industry representatives, and community stakeholders, highlighting the growing importance of skill development in India’s green mobility sector.
The programme, delivered at Don Bosco Industrial Training Institute Pune, was designed to align with evolving industry standards. It offered comprehensive training in EV manufacturing, assembly, and maintenance. Participants underwent hands-on sessions in battery management systems, diagnostic procedures, advanced assembly techniques, and safety protocols, equipping them with job-ready technical competencies.
Two batches of 30 trainees each completed the course, demonstrating consistent engagement through practical modules and simulation-based learning. Upon completion, all 60 participants received proficiency certificates and toolkits containing essential instruments, such as multimeters and torque wrenches, as well as safety equipment, enabling immediate entry into the workforce.
Dr P. K. Bhattacharya, Senior Fellow and EIACP Coordinator at TERI, New Delhi, attended as the Chief Guest. In his address, he emphasised the programme’s relevance in addressing skill gaps, accelerating India’s transition to electric mobility, and creating employment pathways for youth.
The ceremony was coordinated by Vincent Joseph. Dignitaries on the dais included Pallavi Singh, Programme Officer at TERI, and Principal Nilesh Chandgude. Certificates were jointly distributed by Director Fr Anton D’souza and Dr Bhattacharya.
Special acknowledgement was given to Shafi Shaikh for mobilisation and placement support, and Shahid Tamboli for academic contributions. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by Principal Chandgude, reaffirming the institute’s commitment to advancing vocational excellence and sustainable development.
