A one-day community camp offering documentation support, general healthcare, and eye care services was organized for the migrant community in Turbhe, Navi Mumbai, addressing long-standing challenges in accessing essential services. The initiative aimed to improve access to healthcare facilities, facilitate government documentation, and raise awareness of social welfare schemes available to migrant populations in the area.

Nearly 200 community members participated in the programme, reflecting strong local engagement and relevance to local needs. The eye care camp was organized by the Rotary Club Smart City in association with Don Bosco Development Service. As part of this component, 45 individuals received basic eye screening and primary eye care services. Medical professionals conducted vision tests and offered guidance on maintaining eye health, particularly for those exposed to dust, pollution, and long working hours—common occupational hazards for migrant workers. The screenings helped identify vision-related concerns and cases requiring further medical attention.

Complementing the eye care services, a general medical camp provided consultations and basic health check-ups to 23 beneficiaries. These included blood pressure monitoring, general physical assessments, and preventive healthcare advice. Doctors also counselled participants on nutrition, hygiene, and the importance of early medical intervention, thereby improving health awareness within the community.

A key highlight of the programme was the follow-up documentation camp aimed at resolving identity and access barriers. Forty-five Aadhaar cards were distributed, enabling beneficiaries to access essential government services. The camp also facilitated documentation for seven Ayushman Bharat cards and provided assistance on ration card-related queries, including temporary ration cards and eligibility procedures.

The programme was facilitated by Fr. Barnabe D’Souza, Rector of Social Development Services, and Mathew George, Social Development Service Coordinator. Members of the Don Bosco Social Development Team, along with Nazia, President of the Rotary Club Smart City, leaders, and volunteers, ensured smooth implementation. The integrated approach effectively reduced barriers to healthcare and social security access for migrant and underprivileged families.
