Salesian Youth Ministry Delegates Chart Common Pastoral Vision at Don Bosco Fatorda

News reported by: Francis Xavier

The Youth Ministry Delegates of the Salesian Province of Panjim–Konkan convened at Don Bosco, Fatorda, on January 16 to review the current state of youth ministry in the province and to forge a coordinated pastoral plan for the year 2026–2027. The meeting brought together representatives from most of the province's Salesian communities, reflecting a strong collective commitment to youth-focused pastoral engagement.

The session began with the Vice Provincial, Fr. Banzelao Teixeira, who presented the Strenna from a youth-ministry perspective, setting a reflective, mission-oriented tone for the deliberations. His input invited the delegates to view the annual pastoral theme through the lived realities, aspirations, and challenges of young people in the province.

A key objective of the meeting was to gain clarity on the processes and structures that guide youth ministry within the provincial context. In this regard, the Province Delegate for Youth Ministry, Fr. Ralin De Souza, presented a comprehensive working document outlining how youth ministry initiatives would be organised and animated across the province. Local delegates were encouraged to offer candid feedback to ensure the framework remains both practical and responsive to ground realities.

The working document detailed core principles, pastoral styles, patterns of initiatives, and strategies for youth animation in the coming year. The meeting also served as a collaborative platform, enabling delegates to share experiences, articulate concerns, and explore ways to strengthen coordination and unity in their ministry.

Among the major challenges identified were two significant initiatives: the organisation of the SYM INP Youth Day 2025 and the systematic animation and formation of youth leaders at various levels within the province.

The gathering concluded with an in-depth discussion on the planning and creative organisation of INP Youth Day 2025, underscoring the province’s resolve to make it a vibrant and meaningful experience for young people.
