Telugu Edition of ‘Ten Green Commandments’ Released to Promote Ecological Awareness

16 October 2025
News written by: Fr Yeruva Joji SDB

A book release on caring for the creation in the South Indian Telugu language, took place on Oct. 15, 2025, at Don Bosco Provincial House, Hyderabad (INH), in the presence of Fr. Biju Michael – General Councillor for South Asia and in the presence of Fr. Thomas Santiagu – Provincial and amidst the Rectors and Leaders of the Province.

The book titled ‘Pachani Padi Agnalu’ a translated version of the book: Ten Green Commandments - from Laudato Si’ to Laudate Deum was written by Fr. Joshtrom Isaac Kureethadam SDB.  He was coordinator of the Sector on Ecology and Creation under the Vatican's Dicastery for Promoting Integral Human Development. He currently teaches philosophy in Salesian Pontifical University – Rome.

This book is universally well-accepted, as it has been translated into nearly thirty languages. The Telugu translation was done by Mr. M.D Vincent, who was awarded as best writer and media expert by the government of Telangana (India). Fr. Yeruva Joji SDB – Youth Director of the Province coordinated and edited this work. He expressed gratitude to all those who collaborated in the process of publication of this book.

This book is the first of its kind in the Telugu language to address environmental crises characterised by interconnected issues, including climate change, biodiversity loss, and pollution, driven by factors such as rising carbon emissions from fossil fuels and unsustainable practices. This book is an attempt to gather Pope Francis’ Laudato Si’ - encyclical’s main ideas into a concise package and arrange them according to the “see-judge-act” framework increasingly used in social sciences. As Telugu reviews of this book suggest, we hope that the readers of this book become conscious and make the required changes in their living besides promoting this message far and wide, listening to the cry of the earth.
