Don Bosco Ahmednagar Brings Hope to Flood-Hit Families in Beed District
In the wake of the devastating cloudburst on September 15 that triggered flash floods across several parts of Ashti Block in Beed District, Don Bosco Ahmednagar stepped forward to support affected families through a compassionate flood relief drive in the Kada region.
The sudden downpour wreaked havoc on homes, farmlands, and livelihoods in the villages of Chincholi, Sheri, Takli, and Shirapur. Rising to the occasion, Don Bosco reached out to 110 flood-affected families, distributing essential relief kits that contained groceries, mats, chadars (bed sheets), and towels.
Before the distribution, Bosco Gramin Vikas Kendra (BGVK) conducted a meticulous assessment survey to identify the most affected households, ensuring that the aid was both timely and well-targeted. The initiative was fully coordinated by BGVK, reaffirming its commitment to community-centred development and rapid response in times of crisis.
Adding a heartwarming dimension to the effort, students from Don Bosco School not only contributed generously to the relief fund but also joined the field team during the distribution. Their active involvement brought a spirit of solidarity and youthful compassion to the drive.
One of the student volunteers, Harsha Patole, shared her reflections on the experience: “When I saw the families who lost everything still smiling and thanking us, I realized what true gratitude means. This experience has changed the way I look at life — giving is more powerful than having.”
Don Bosco Ahmednagar expressed deep gratitude to all benefactors, teachers, students, and well-wishers whose collective generosity made the outreach possible. Through this act of service, Don Bosco continues to embody its mission of standing by communities in their moments of greatest need — with faith, hope, and love in action.
