A one-day training program on Conflict Resolution and Leadership Skills was organized for the newly elected office bearers of various Salesian Co-operators units across the Province at Don Bosco Provincial House, Matunga, on October 4. The session, led by Fr. Diego Nunes, provided participants with valuable insights into emotional intelligence, teamwork, and effective leadership.

The program began with an exercise on emotional awareness, helping participants understand how emotions shape their work and leadership approach. This was followed by a reflective session on team dynamics, encouraging attendees to recognize the roles they play within their local units.

A lively role-play activity on conflict resolution within a family context helped participants apply the lessons to conflicts within their own teams. Key takeaways included the importance of open communication, trust-building, creating safe spaces, active listening, and non-judgmental engagement.

During a group exercise, participants identified leadership qualities that help resolve conflicts—such as assertiveness, conviction, diplomacy, discipline, and persistence. Fr Nunes further guided them to reflect on how they relate to others in their interactions, a process many found enlightening and transformative.

In the second session, outgoing Provincial Coordinator Ms Sudha Pillai explained the rules and regulations governing the formation of local and Provincial Councils. She detailed the specific roles and duties of each council member—the Coordinator, Secretary, Treasurer, and Councillor for Formation—emphasizing the importance of teamwork and accountability.

Mr Cyril Asirvadam from the Yerwada unit remarked that the program helped participants recognize their strengths and leadership abilities. Ms Jacinta Jones of the Nerul unit appreciated the engaging and interactive format, noting how it encouraged self-reflection, growth, and a clearer vision for the way ahead.
