Mental Health Month: Prafulta Invites All to Nurture Awareness and Well-being
As the world observes World Mental Health Day on October 10, the call for greater awareness around emotional well-being grows stronger each year. Mental health, which profoundly affects how we think, feel, and act, significantly impacts our ability to cope with stress, build meaningful relationships, and make informed decisions. Recognizing that well-being deserves year-round attention, Prafulta – Centre for Psychological Wellness, Andheri, dedicates the entire month of October to promoting mental health through its Mental Health Month initiatives.
Each year, Prafulta organizes a variety of activities—workshops, social media campaigns, and community programs—designed to engage individuals across all age groups. The goal is to help people understand, protect, and prioritize their mental wellness in meaningful and practical ways.
This year’s spotlight falls on youth aged 16 and above, a group navigating increasing emotional and psychological pressures in today’s fast-paced world. To address their needs, Prafulta has launched a new, interactive program titled “Vibe Check – Master Your Mood.” This free 90-minute session encourages young participants to explore their emotions, develop self-awareness, and learn strategies for managing stress and building resilience. Several youth groups have already joined, and Prafulta aims to reach at least 1,000 young people through the initiative this October.
The Mental Health Month calendar also includes a rich array of events catering to diverse audiences:
- Short video clips addressing everyday challenges like anger, anxiety, and mood disorders.
- Silver Talkies, a reflective series for senior citizens.
- A gathering of psychologists, providing a space for mental health professionals to exchange insights.
- Dance Movement Therapy sessions, harnessing movement for healing and emotional release.
- Workshops on Career Paths and Mental Well-being, guiding individuals to align professional aspirations with psychological balance.
Through these initiatives, Prafulta reinforces its belief that mental health is not merely the absence of illness but the presence of balance, purpose, and joy. As the centre invites the community to participate, it calls everyone to break stigma, foster empathy, and celebrate life as an adventure grounded in emotional strength and well-being.
