The 10th Provincial Chapter began with the Spiritual Recollection on the evening of 16th, preached by Fr. Jose Arimpoor SDB on ‘The Transformation of the Shepherds for the New Delhi Province’. He emphasized the fact that the Provincial and the General Chapters are powerful renewal mechanisms to make the congregation bloom and flourish and become ever-relevant. Citing some research findings, he proposed that the main foci of the chapter to be: 1) become ever relevant, 2) maintain the vigour and enthusiasm, and 3) uphold the charismatic gift and its expressions.  

On the morning of 17th April, His Grace, Most Rev. Anil Joseph Thomas Couto, Archbishop of Delhi, officiated the Holy Eucharist invoking the Holy Spirit upon the Chapter Members. In his keynote address His Grace underscored the primacy of the call to be disciples of the Lord Jesus. He invited the members to reflect deeply on the call to be passionate about Jesus who is the foundation of the mission of service. From the experience of the local Church, His Grace also presented the emergence of communities made up of lay people to enrich the Church.  

The inauguration session began with the enthronement of the Bible and prayer service. Rev. Fr. Maniparamben Davis, Provincial and the President of the Chapter, officially welcomed the Chapter Members exhorting them to take part in the Provincial Chapter actively. The messages by the Vicar of the Rector Major, the Regional, the Superior General of SMI, MSMHC and the Provincial of FMA, Kolkata were read out before the assembly. After the election of the Chapter officials and the approval of the juridical proceedings, the President Rev. Fr. Maniparamben Davis declared the Provincial Chapter - 10 open.
